Hey guys, I'm gonna try this again. Take it for what it is, because this test isn't scientific. It has been consistent, however. Hope you enjoy it. Heads tested are 125gr., shot on the same shaft, and shot at 10yds. Shot into a soaking wet phonebook (the best simulator of flesh I have available to me to my knowledge).
Snuffer SS:
Best penetrating multiblade tested. Did a great job leaving an open hole and penetrating, as the picture indicates.

Thunderhead:
Last place in penetration. Was extremely sharp before and after the 2 test shots were taken. The hole was larger in diameter than the SS but not as open. Was only beaten by the Phantom by an inch or so.

Phantom:
Left the best hole and placed second in penetration, losing by about 1.5" to the SS and beating the Thunderhead by an inch. I also shot it as a 2blade and it penetrated the same. Arrow was tuned for the heavier head, so that is to be expected. The 2blade would've been the best penetrator had the arrow been tuned.

Again guys, this isn't presented as fact. Just info that may be relevant, yet there is debate as to whether or not this test means anything. You decide    ;)

I will be testing the Simmons Razorshark next. Would like to try the Magnus Buzzcut if anyone is willing to let me borrow one for a day or 2.

Folks take the tests for what they're worth and play nice. Craig put some work into this and deserves the same respect as everyone else here.

Thank you moderators for allowing this thread back on.  I apologize if my comment had anything to do with the previous thread being pulled.  The young man does deserve his thread and as Vermonster says "the same respect as everyone else"    :clapper:

Whitebuffalo, I shot them side by side tonight and didn't notice any difference in flight. All were excellent.

how thick was the phone book as I would like to try this test for my self with some of my broadheads.  :notworthy:

Can you tell us a little more about your phone book set up? How many, how you prep'ed them, etc.? Just something so we put this in to prospective.

I like the close up photos of the holes. Pretty neat.

owlbait

Nice comparisions and I too like the up close photos of the holes. Keep up the great work and keep sharing!

I'm very interested in how the Buzzcuts' perform.

Nice experiment in my opinion.

I think it is a great test and would like to see Magnus four blades myself?  I am thinking of either the phantom or the Magnus for me.

Arrows4Christ  Nice work.  Nice to know someone else is a backyard forensic expert.  BTW I once shot a deer that had swallowed a phone book...I just followed the yellow pages.  Anyone want to order a pizza?

Cool post.

saltwatertom

Cool test! Hey how did you come up with the phone book info to compare it to flesh? Can you say the poundage of your bow and the total penetration of the arrows? Did you try the woodsman? I am in the mkt for some new broad heads, this is good info (IMHO)I like to see creative thinking!
Thanks, I'm eternally curious :-)

The Phonebook is about 2.5" thick and soaked with water. I came up with the idea from a broadhead review site:  Lots of great info on there. The poundage on my bow is 63#@30". Didn't measure the total penetration, but I'll remember to do so in my future tests. I haven't tried the Woodsman, though I suspect it would penetrate better than the Snuffer SS or Razorcaps because of the smaller diameter and longer length. Arrows are Arrow Dynamics Trad Heavies cut to 29.5" weighing in at 535gr. with the broadhead.

saltwatertom

thanks for the come back.   Soooooooooo much to learn here!
