I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.

Season opened last weekend but I was fortunate to go hunt a friends place with a group of great folks. I got to our place last night but skipped the evening sit and stayed at the ranch house, shot my bow and drank a couple of beers.  This morning I dropped off everyone at their stands, drove back to where I park and walked the last quarter mile to the stand.  I spooked a bunch of deer bedded around my stand (in a big white oak currently dropping acorns) and I was muttering under my breath and climed in about 45 minutes before sunrise.  Fortunately they weren't too spooked and wandered back in, feeding all around me as day break and dawn rolled through.
Soon this guy came in and I kept passing opportunities to shoot him as it's still pretty hot here and I hate cleaning them inbthe heat.  After 20bor 25 minutes though he came around to my left at 13 yards and I couldn't resist.  I drew and came up the offside leg, picked a spot and released.  I could see both ends of the arrow sticking out as he left and knew he'd be down quick.  The blood trail however left something to be desired but he only went 60 to 70 yards.  Still not a single bevel fan.
First buck I've killed on our ranch in the 5 years we've owned it.

Took this 10 last night with my new Northern Mist Superior and home made cedar arrows and a wicked sharp Zwickey Eskimo.  Sorry for crappy pics. I was alone and it was very warm so was in a hurry to get him out.

Don't worry about the heat just gut them and take them back and put a 20# bag of ice inside the cavity and skin them laying on their side one side a time.  I live in GA, and most of the deer I kill are during bow season. Hunt to 10:30 in the morning and go back at 5 after a 90-95 degree day. Bow season runs from 2nd Saturday in September thought the 1 week in October. I've been dealing with the heat since I started bow hunting at 16.

What broad head?  Nice buck Sir! I call that shape of rack a 'Diamond Head'. They look cool.

Bisch.... that's a tall dandy! Congrats!

We have a chest freezer we quarter them and the freeze them.  But with a three month season opportunities on doe happen fairly often.  So waiting is usually okay.  Mature buck on the other hand don't give us lots of opportunities.

I put a tape to my buck this evening. Ended up grossing 127 4/8". I am tickled pink. Net was 4 1/8" less, but I don't care. As far as I'm concerned, nets are for fishing!!!

I totally agree Bisch, it is what it was when you shot it. Waiting for it to dry and shrink is not representative of the buck on the hoof. I never understood it, it makes no sense.

Tim, since I don't have a 40 hour a week job anymore, (kinda retired ) , I will have a bit more time this year.  And you never know , next time I see him I could be in a different mindframe. LOL
