It's cocobolo, gaboon ebony, white and black accents... limbs are coco with African blackwood wedges and a boo core

MadMax you scared me for a second I thought you were making a bow out of that.
But his bow will remain steady, and his hands will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,  (Genesis 49:24 [NETfree])

Mad Max

Nope

6 of us in the bow shop yesterday.

Trapper rob brought back my Osage and Mulberry which he cut into boards for me.

Kennym made a guest appearance from Linneus Missouri. He still looks the same..    :)

It's nice to have so many fellow bowyers near you Roy.  Looks like a great time.

Yes it is, Clint. They started out as students and we've been getting together all winter twice a week for the past 3 years now.

Menu was a venison roast with vegetables in gravy, ham BBQ sandwiches, mac and cheese, donuts, peanut butter chocolate covered cookies, and Pepsi.  :)

scrub-buster

That sounds like my kind of menu

That is a cool looking cane.  Are  you bringing it to the Classic?  I'd like to see that one in person.

You guys are getting a lot done.

Put the finishing touches on this quiver.  Can't decide on what to do for the strap fastener so I'll leave it up to the recipient.

Finally took some time and got into the shop today.

Have barely had time to use the new saw, so I figured I would start on a nice, but rather gnarly yew stave I had sitting for several years.

Got it roughed out, floor tillering, pushed a little too hard I guess and it exploded right at the roughed out fade ... lesson learned. Round everything over before bending.

Seems obvious now. I've always done things by hand so this whole saw marks/sharp edges thing is new to me.

Like they say, the fastest way to ruin a bow is with power tools.

Took a few deep breaths and starting working on a nice ERC stave that I intend to steam into a deflex recurve shape and sinew back.

Also got a nice rosewood riser cut out and sanded for a tri-lam I'm planning. Going to be an 18" riser, nice tall sight window, probably 64" recurve, hickory back, ipe belly, undecided core. Really looking forward to that one. I've been building all my risers 12" and that really is like the bare minimum so 18" should be nice.

That sucks, Ben. Ya hate losing any bow but it really hurts when ya loose a yew bow.
I think 18 inches is too long, that's going to make your working limb a lot shorter. But you do have a short draw length.
