Well the 46.6# super grizzly shot a 460 gr arrow 175 fps at 28". Not too shabby for a stock bow.
But his bow will remain steady, and his hands will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,  (Genesis 49:24 [NETfree])

AHH.. Yeah.. I'll be more carefull with my typo's around here..!

That was supposed to be BoCote..!  But I like Bootee too... ha!

That bocote bow was 60" and pulls 54# @ 28..

The Riser is 20" to the end of the fades.  We tried something new this time, to create the riser.  We sliced the bocote and gaboon into 1/8" laminations.  After careful sanding, we glued the lams together on the bow form to get a perfect fit along the back of the riser..  It did require a little extra work, but It worked great.  The idea allowed us to build a bow from some odd leftover pieces of this wood.   We have a few more on the bench made the same way.

This next one is a Wenge Riser with a heart piece of Gaboon..  The limbs are super nice english yew with lots of "pips' and figure.  I'm super pleased with this bow.!  Smooth Axis Antler for the limb tips..

60", 48 lbs @ 28" 20" Riser..

Heat treated my Cherokee D-Bow yesterday, so now I am waiting for that to get back to normal MC.

Tonight I sat down and started turning some Khaki Campbell duck feathers, that I got from two of our males from our flock (they were trying to kill the females romantically), into fletching. I took an old cane arrow that my bowyer mentor gave me that doesn't fly good with anything I shoot and fletched it up the way the Cherokees did it with the Khaki Campbell feathers and it looks great!

Thanks Very Much Ben and Kenny..!

Its been a really fun adventur, shared with my son..

We have a few other forms..

Just glued up a blank on a new form design.  Fingers crossed that it performs as well as expected.  We've been chasing a few improvements..

started on a set of ILF recurve limbs this afternoon. Maple burl veneers, amberboo taper and parallel, zebrawood wedge. Using a 002/inch taper in this set instead of the 003/inch taper rate I have been using. Gonna glue up the first limb tomorrow afternoon..

Hope you can give a detailed analysis of the difference between the two tapers.  Pic's too, of course.   :)

I pulled a tri-lam out of the clamps after work and reaffirmed that I can be such a bonehead sometimes. During the glue up, a belly lam slipped a bit so I undid the clamps on that side to re adjust it. I put all the clamps back on and left it to cure for about 28 hours. As I pulled the clamps today, I found the most critical clamp on that side had been left loose. The clamp that induced the deflex/reflex for that limb. As a result, one limb has a deeper reflex than the other.    :knothead:
It looks like I can still turn out a shooter, but I have to think about how to make it look good.
