I'm thinking this might become my trade bow.  It has some character that is making it a good challenge to tiller.  I've got it to a 5" brace height and tillering out pretty well.  Last check it was anywhere from 35-55lbs at 21" (I wouldn't want to give anything away    :D    )The rollercoasters and dips make it a toughie to use the gizmo well.

Any thoughts on the tiller and bow itself are welcome.  I know the left limb is stiff around the outer 1/3 and is getting addressed.  Sorry about the low lighting on the tiller tree.  If the snow comes that they are expecting in west Arkansas then I'll be home tomorrow and get a chance to take better pictures.  I'm sure **** will love whatever comes their way.

Goose, I like what I am seeing so far.  Should turn out nice. Got snow yet?

Is the left limb in the first pic the same as the right limb in the last? The outer 1/3 looks stiff at full draw and braced.
With the whoop de doos along the edge try to get the belly to follow the back. Looks like you left a few rings in those and they can be removed to help you get a better bend in those areas. I usually use a rasp and scraper for these. Be careful of swirling grain in these areas.

yep goose I think **** would love that bow if it truns out to be the trad bow. who in their right mind does not like charactor in a bow.

Goose Gossett

Definitely snowing outside and still is.  Got a couple extra inches.  Scraping away like a fiend.  String is still tracking very well after heat treating.  Hopefully going to finish the tillering out today.

Nice job, Goose. I was wondering, in the third pic the knot near the fade appears as if it has been cut through. Is that the case? And if so, would that compromise the bow at that knot? Just trying to learn and you're posting some good pics for that.
Looking good.

Red: I'll post a picture of the front of the bow and you can see a bit better how I went around the knot with a bandsaw.

Got some time this morning to work on the bow and I've got it to 28" pulling 1 pound over desired draw weight.  That is about right for the sanding and rest of the work that it'll take to get purdy.  Shot a couple and even with the tips still chunky it was SMOOTH!  I'm going to look forward to sending this one off here in the next couple of weeks if I can stay after it and keep the honey-do list cleared.

Any comments on the tiller would be appreciated.

Lookin good!  Left limb looks pretty perfect to me.  Right looks stiff on the outer 2/3.  Still much better than I could do though!  Could be the uneven background playing tricks on me too.  I love me some character bows.
