You all may have seen the "Rough" pics of my ugly stave that I made a flat bow out of already, they are over in KellyG's thread Osage First Try.

Well here it is all finished, 3 coats of Satin Poly, flemish twist string, my home made beaver silencers, and my so so attempt at a handle wrap. This is only the 3rd handle wrap I've done, so I'm not an expert yet.......but I am getting better each try.
The bow specs out at 40# @28" which is more than I thought I could get since it's only 57"
I really thought I would have to tiller it way down to get the draw length that I needed, but 40# was my target wt. and I hit that with no problem.

Great lookin bow. Now you got me wantin to make a shorty. Handle wrap looks good too.

SEMO_HUNTER

This bow is also a real shooter!
I'm not that great of a shot, but shooting inside my garage at about 20-25 feet away, I was stacking my woodies in tight!
Do you see anything missing from this pic?

This is whats missing!
I Robin Hooded one of my target woodies dang near.

Very nice...   Did you notice that it isn't center cut?      :bigsmyl:

If you mean narrowing it down on both sides where the handle wrap is, yes I know it's not. That's not the look I was going for because I don't think Indians did it that way. This is just your basic bent stick with a string on it, nothing fancy and the grip is just for my shooting comfort and not for the function of the bow.
I still shoot off the top of my knuckle of my bow hand.

Is that what you were asking?

SEMO_HUNTER,
It turned out nice, I keep telling you if you back that little guy you will have next years hunting bow.
It looks like it is a shooter and I bet it is easy to swing on a target.
God Bless and Happy Building,
Kelly

Looks good, short and strong shooter, very good, congrats!!
Always say what you mean, that way people will know you mean what you say.

KellyG

oh I noticed one other thing Missing FULL DRAW PICS.

SEMO_HUNTER

Kelly......LOL   :D
I'll get some full draw pics when I can get somebody to take my picture. I tried to by myself, but I couldn't hit the button with my toe and keep the bow pulled back at the same time.  :knothead:

I'm hoping that my bow swap bow will be next year's hunting rig......You know something I don't, but you ain't tellin.   :nono:
Once thing is for sure, I bet it will thump a stump or a bunny just fine. Maybe even a thunder chicken?

Oh I am sure you will like what ever bow you get, of course I know a about 82 things you don't but that list will grow shorter over time.
And who knows the next bow could be yours or Hovas or well the list goes on and on don't it. HEHEHEHE,
Kelly

SEMO_HUNTER

Ok rub it in, but your right. I will love whatever I get because I didn't have to bust my knuckles or wake up with sore shoulders to get it. So it will be nice to shoot something that didn't require seeing anymore of my own flesh and blood.
I did pretty good on this one though, I only made myself bleed once. That's a record for me.
Normally by the end of a bow build I've got half my finger tips and knuckles taped up with black electrical tape so I can keep going without permanently staining the wood!   :banghead:

I think probably Dick was just reminding "us" that a bow doesn't   have to be  center cut to be a good looking/shooting bow.

Nice work (and shooting), Semo.

Nice looking bow, clean and simple would be a great brush bow.

Thanks guys, yes it's short and I love the length. I won't hesitate to make any of my longbows this way and keep them around the 60" mark. It's a real joy to shoot.

Bernie- I'm still guessing because Dick didn't elaborate anymore and it's hard to tell what someone's expression is by what you read. That's why I asked what he was talking about, then decided to just go ahead and explain why I made it that way. Your probably right and he was pointing out the "Lack Of" center cut on the riser and it shoots great without it.
I'm not mad or anything, just curious......I wish he would make another post here and elaborate a little bit on his comment, Dick is a nice guy and I like him.

Yeh, I agree, and I'm sure he will when he gets time. ('course I may be w-w-wr-wrong in the first place - would be far from the first, or last, time -     :D  )

It doesn't matter Bernie either way to me.
Did you notice I practically Robin Hooded one of my woods?   :goldtooth:

It don't get any closer than that without splitting the shaft straight down the middle. I don't mind bustin nocks cause I've got more, but I would hate to waste a good POC shaft........those I don't have alot of.
