We put 3 coats of finish on it over the past 2 days. Monday I will get to letter it and seal it. Really is cool to see the color and grain pop out with the finish applied! I like it. I can see where I could improve...but for a first bow I'm happy. It's all because I had a great teacher and now a friend. Thanks Steve!

Very nice, you should be proud- how does it perform?

Nice bow, what kind of finish did you use?

I think it needs improvement.. better start on number 2. Maybe something in a myrtlewood riser with black walnut in the limbs.. just thinking out loud here.

Seriously I knew that wood was going to look great and your lines are nice. Can't wait to get ahold of that although i couldn't pull that back right handed. Guess I could shoot a 18 inch draw out of it.

Just like everyone else that has responded:  Very Nice!  It is a beautiful job that anyone would be proud of.
Please don't take this as knock in any way but I notice your shelf is pretty deep.  You may want to build out the strike plate some when you apply that material.  I might help the feathers clear the ledge better.  Other than that I don't see anything I would change.  Great job.

ChristopherO, good observation! It is cut to center. I have only put 3 coats of conversion varnish on it. The next step is to letter it and build a leather shelf and side plate and then spray another coat on it. From there I think I will put a couple of coats on of Polyurethane from a "rattle can".

Trux, it shoots really nice! With that radiused shelf the arrows come off it nicely. It draws easy now that I have shot it awhile. It is stable in the hand without much shock. I found that it likes an 8" brace height. Started at 8.5" and came down until it quieted down.

Oregon Okie you are reading my mind!  ;)  We need to start thinking about getting back in the shop! There's always room for improvement. I'm bringing to the work party tonight....

Great job! Very impreesive for a first bow.  I am up to bow #4, should finish it this weekend. If it wasn't chores, making a living, honey-dos, ect. I have a house full of them. Careful this stuff is addicting.

I think it has already sunk it's claws in me Pditto. I am talking with someone about what bandsaws and belt sanders cost! Not a good sign.

I thought it would be the "SS" model...for Super Slayer and the initials of the man who helped introduce me to this bow building thing! It will have to live up to it's name now...haha

David,
That is sweet.  Really like how it turned out.  Are you going to the TAO Rendezvous?  If so bring it by my booth I would love to see up close.
And cannot forget to give some kudos to Savage for his help.
Again it turned out great.
