Fred being the true gentleman that he always was, never mentioned this fact nor claimed this animal to be a short lived World Record, even though it truly was.

John - Sorry your answer is not correct. We are looking for two animals, rather then birds.

I don't remember hearing about Ed Bilderback  killing two crows with a single arrow. Is that a fact recorded in a publication or was that a guess?

Lucas - Sorry, your answer is not correct. Fred's Mountain Caribou was the World Record from the time it was killed in 1957 until 1968 when a larger one was taken.

Wade, I have watched my Fred Bear DVDs too many times to count and Capt. Ed and Bob Munger hunt crows in one of the Kodiak hunts.

Wasn't a "wild guess" but more of an "educated guess" from my memory. I will make a point of paying closer attention next time.

Number 11- Freds Dall sheep from the 1958 little Delta Hunt. Bud Gray killed a larger sheep during the same hunt. The Picture of the 1960 awards shows Bud's sheep. A very shortlived world record if this is the right answer.

tuscarawasbowman - Pretty good guess, but sorry your answer is not correct.

In 1923, Art Young killed a larger Dall Sheep than Fred's. And in 1957 Martin Hanson killed a larger one too. So Fred's Dall Sheep was never a record as two larger rams were already killed when Fred took his in 1958.

Bud Gray's 1958 Ram exceeded both Young's and Hanson's rams.

I just came across this thread. I am not with my books, so I won't throw out any guesses on most questions.

I do believe that number 14 is a bracelet made from the hair on an elephants tail, taken after the kill. As far as whose it is, that is a question I would have to guess on because I do not know what each successful hunters bracelet looked like.

My first guess would be Bill Negley.

Number 11 is bothering me. I do not have the records book with me, but I have read through the entries a few times, and I know that many of Fred's entries do not even meet the current minimums. I have eliminated most species, but do not want to guess for fear of being wrong.

Earlier you said someone's answer Moose was close, so I do not know what that means. Someone said Caribou and that was wrong (I am assuming this means all species). Unless I missed something, the only entry for any moose by Fred Bear was his Canada Moose. Some of his Alaska-Yukon Moose look large, but I did not see any entries in the book.

Am I correct that the animal in question for #11 was shot after 1961? For it to be a P&Y award.

Missaukee- I don't believe so. Bud gray's Dall sheep was shot in 1958 and was listed as the World Record at the first awards.
