I don't know about you gents , but once the tags are filled & the weather sours we  can spend less time  getting out . Stretching the legs , the bow limbs ,the mind -body-soul and lungs taking in the good life.....

So as I looked out my window and spotted a nice little Gray Squirrel enjoying the mid days warmth , I took it as a sign . Grabbed  my boots , bow and quiver and raced off for some much needed cabin fever relief.

...a short little Squirrel/stump Hunt-scout-adventure was calling on this warm Jan day.......

...just a little valley down from a  narrow I hunt often for whitetails.  Good way to see what has made it through bow season , rifle , and smoke-stick...  Though the numbers are down heavily , I  did see good seed sign for the coming seasons.

....a stream runs through it . and in the stream  life drifts by.....Nature is a beautiful thing ....

some not so lucky....

some not so friendly......

...some just seem to call out for attention.

some pleasant distractions .......turf wars.

...Big or small-short or Tall.  It never fails to replenish what is missing ...running  low.....calling.

...though no critters were harmed on this outing , it sure did this Ol' Wolf a world of Good .

Man that looks like some great time out and about! Love the woods this time of year when our rain lets us out of home jail! Squirrels are on the back burner but, rabbits are still in season here 'til end of next month. I'm hoping to get in 1 or 2 chases on them before end of Feb.

I did the same thing today. I'm a very new hunter, so it was really cool just to find a bunch of deer sign. I even had an interaction with a doe that I watched about 40 yards from me for about 30 minutes. Coulda sworn she was gonna wind me but she never did. Just slowly walked off. It was an amazing experience. Hoping to have more like it in the years to come.
