42deg@6:00am here. Supposed to get hot next week. Getting nervous about fire season.
Time to get back in the shop for some bow making!

It's in the 90's in my garage. I just got inside to cool off. I was flattening a padauk tabletop with my belt sander. The sweat and dust dyed my t-shirt orange.

Just got back from our evening walk with my furry friend and we saw about 20 Elk and 4 calves. Boy are they cute! They were running around all goofy, splashing in the water. They are usually up high this time of year, makes me wonder....

Had an unusually productive day today  :dunno:

1) Stained/finished up the bow I backed earlier with linen - I'd bought some 'natural' finish varnish by accident for another project which co-incidentally worked out as the perfect colour to finish this bow without the white linen showing through the TB3. The photo doesn't really show it well, but the linen has almost vanished and the colour matches the rest of the finish/wood very well. A couple more coats with some sanding and it should be done. I also fixed a weird random extreme nock high shot that I'd occasionally get by adding a leather flappy rest. Just have to add a handle wrap and it should be good for the bush! Fletched up a few arrows to go with it as well

2) Made up a couple of serving jigs canabalising a fly tying bobbin and some aluminium (or aluminUm ) flat bar. Have been doing them by hand with the afore mentioned bobbin. Can't believe how easy it is to use, should have done it ages ago.

3) Built an endless loop string jig a la Nick the Backyard Bower's (youtube) with scrap I had on hand. Good thing I didn't spend any money on it, I built a string straight away and realised my posts weren't high enough for the serving jig to clear the adjusting nuts.

4) Built a string using 3) above. Gotta lot to practice but I can see a spare or two strings for every bow in the near future.

5) Built and installed a clicker on the bow mentioned in job 1). Helped clear up some left/right issues (arrows, not my directional dyslexia) and reminds me to follow through every time.

And I managed to bank lots of brownie points mowing the grass, clearing up the pruning rubbish, washing etc. etc. Think I'd better go to work for a holiday.....

Good day there Steve, LOL on banking brownie points.

Ya never know when yer gonna need to cash them for bow material:)

Flem, I'd love to be able to take a walk and see 20 elk.

But all I see are damn deer:)

Old Bue taking Yew stave sapwood down to one year ring. A bit slow work, but I do it, looks better I think.
