I'm finally ok with the finish, but just ok!  I'm letting it rest before putting the handle wrap on.  Should be able to meet the grace period deadline.

Handle wrap is on and a good fit.  I really enjoy doing a handle wrap.

Had to do this project indoors. While I was out of town a pair of robins set up housekeeping on my patio light fixture.  They layed four eggs two of which hatched.  As soon as they hatched dad became Super aggressive and dive bombs constantly.  He has hit me in the back of the head three times!  That's no way to treat the landlord.

Be glad when they are gone.  It's taking all of my better side and the better half to keep me from a rude eviction.

Roy from Pa

He who dances with birds!

I always knew you wasn't quite right, Mike.

Bow looks very nice.

C. Johnson

Your bow looks awesome!

As far as the birds, borrow a cat.....  ;)

monterey

Funny you should say that.  Yesterday I found a dead and very torn up squirrel in the backyard.  Today a big rough looking cat jumped into the yard and trotted straight to where the squirrel had been.

Maybe he will find a feathered meal.  :biglaugh:

Roy, I only have to be right 51% of the time. :)

Made a string while the wrap was drying then ran a few arrows through it.  Shoot pretty well considering it has no nocking point.

Bow is shipped.  Might take a while to get there.  It has a long way to go.

Still to come are pictures of my grandson Josh with his new bow built by Canopyboy.

Looking forward to seeing a tube show up on the porch. It'll be like Christmas. Since I work nights, I'll wake up, look out the window and hopefully see a tube leaning against the door.

Me too.  I feel like a little kid on Christmas eve..... ;)

Well, what a pleasant surprise!

When I arrived home from work today I was greeted by a package sent all the way from the distant northern land of Arvada, Colorado!  Inside, I found this stunning example of craftsmanship from another Colorado fella, Mr. Mike Lee.

Shoots well too!

The very first thing I did was set a nock point on the very well crafted string and fling some arrows!  I can only shoot 18 yards at my house, but I'm confident this bow can reach out much farther as long as I do my part.

This is one awesome bow.  From the smooth, silky finish, to the custom leather grip, to the excellent color combination.  I am honored to have it and it will see a lot of use!

Thank You!

kennym

Stay sharp, Kenny.

There's one more at least on the mail that should be showing up any day. Keep your eyes open.

Glad you like it, Craig.  I felt a little apprehensive building a bow for another bowyer with your credentials!  Especially knowing your propensity for curvy bows and fancy riser work.

Looks like you have figured out how to grip it and the target looks great.

That string is B55 so you will want to watch the brace height until it's fully settled in.

Sorry about the rather crude writing on it.  I must have 55 or 60 bucks sunk into looking the "write" stuff (that there is a pun :)  ) and still am not satisfied.  Might try the India ink system.

I love it bud!  It is a very well made bow, and, very different than what I build.  Which makes it fun and interesting.

I use India ink.  After MUCH experimentation, I found that works best.  Usually.  ;)

Thank you again!

How do you apply the ink?  Do you have special pens?  I'm going to get it "write" once and for all! :)

I use an old fashioned quill pen.  They call them calligraphy pens now.  You can get a kit with the pen holder, different tips, and ink for about $20 at Hobby Lobby.

Also, the extra fine tip paint pens work well.  They're cheap, but they seem to only want to work once or twice no matter how well you clean and cap them.  Many different colors, 2-3 bucks a piece.
