Bend of limbs looks great on both those!
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Thanks Kenny the 64'' R/D manage some kill zone shots at 40-45 yards that's about the farthest I shot it today now that I have it all tuned !  Now will see how it flys with broad heads !

I think I finally have my bow ready to finish but am hesitating. I will be using rattle can simply because I am not set up for anything else. But my question is about the bocote, do I need to seal it before finish or is there any other special prep that I should do?

I did note that it gums up my sanding medium pretty quickly so I figure it's an oily wood, do I need to take any precautions because of that?
Skeater who?

Roy from Pa

I would seal it with shellac.

Or vinyl sealer works good before finish !

Vinyl sealer is a base coat sealer that adds to moister  protection , shellac is not compatible with pre cat lacquer but vinyl sealer is compatible with most top coats but not all ,the stuff sticks to just about any thing Flem turned me on to it glad he did its my go to now ![attachment=1,msg2808473]

Mike on that vinyl sealer I have only used it with pre cat lacquer ,Im just going by what was said in the musical insturment making threads as far as compatibility with other top coats but I really like how quick it dries and smooth sanding !

Thanks guys.

He only began shooting last summer when we took him to a 4 day trad camping shoot.

He is highly intelligent and learns fast.

I showed him proper form and he picked up on it right away.

He shoots very well.

He loves primitive  things, fire by a ferro rod is his favorite.

Here is Denny Every from Michigan teaching him.

I agree.  That form is spot on!  Better than mine for sure.  Bow looks good too!

I have not been compelled to build a R/D bow, until I saw Yellowwood's full draw profile! Those limbs have a beautiful arc. Nice job. I should be cursing you for that, I don't need another project!
