Those 2 bows finished up nicely! dang....a couple people are going to be happy.
Life is too short to use marginal bow wood

Wow!  Both of those are beautiful!  It sure wouldn't hurt my feelings if one of them were to land on my doorstep.....

Bow is done and crated up.  Here, have some glamour pics!  My favorites are the profiled limb tip where you can see through the glass and the belly from below.  Clear coated with Deft aircraft grade polyurethane clear coat liberated from work (the paint we use on our F-15's).  Shipping out tomorrow morning which should put it on my victim's door-step in about 1-2 weeks because of the wicked fast APO mail...  Canopy, tracking number inbound!

kennym

Nice job Chris!!!
With the issues you had in the beginning, you ended up with a beautiful bow.

Thanks guys, it means a lot from you all.  She isn't perfect, but I'm proud to call it my first laminate bow and that one of you will have it.  I learned a lot from this process and from all of you, I only wish I had started doing this sooner.

Shipped, someone will have a crate on their doorstep in 7-10 business days!

She's all packaged up and off to her victim! I spent a whole week trying to find some way to send it besides a cruddy box. I think the pvc will be plenty strong. My one regret, we will see if it gets noticed, I tried writing with a permanent marker and it was blotchy I sanded it down, but still a little showing under finish. Sorry to the victim. Maybe I shouldn't have pointed it out.

Just built a set of pressure plates for the trade bow. I planned to lay it up today but a graduation just popped up out of nowhere so it will be tomorrow.

So, opinions on tip wedges.  70" ASL with .005 taper, 1.125 at the fades and 7/16 at the nocks.  So, 27.5" working limb length.  Any thoughts on how long the tip wedges should be?

They have a very fine tip n them. They're the kind that you push down two or three times to get the paint flowing.

Got mine ready to ship out tomorrow or Friday. Recycling Kenny's box to mail mine!

My bow ships out today. My victim should see a package on their doorstep in 3-4 days.

finally...

i have done with bow...
finished and ready to ship. next week, i will be shipping it.

BTW:
my formula to write on bow etc.
materials needed.
1. gouache (white)
2. white (opaque) wood glue
3. water

put little amount of gouache in to pod and mix it with little amount of water until it dissolves completely.
then put some wood glue and mix it again.

with dip pen you can write permanently.

this method was used in permanent black indian and chinese inks in history. i just converted a little. they were using resin instead of glue and ashes for black powder.

maybe this information can be useful to someone :D
