Got my picks bow roughed out, limbs are straight and tiller is close. It's a couple pounds lighter than I wanted but it'll work, usually gain a couple pounds when I add the overlays. Glue on some overlays and a bunch of sanding and she should be a shooter!

That's going to be one sweet looking bow 4 point.
Life is to short to pass up anything that could potentially be bow wood!

Not totally but the are off just a bit. I know it will be covered by the limbs but it will drive me jack batty knowing it's there and I gave it to someone.

Skeater who?

Skeats...  I think yah jinxed me...  Mine are slightly off but you could never tell unless you really looked for them to be off...   :)

Have not put much thought into getting a bow...  Just making a good one and giving it away... But now that I saw 4Point's bow it has got me thinking about it...  Nice looking bow Brother...

Thanks guys, I hope someone will put it to good use.

Lonnie, I'm guessing that you checked if your limb pads were square. If so you could just put a limb pad over lay on to cover the problem.

I did check for square and they are all good there. I am pretty sure what I did was get a little out off kilter when cleaning up the riser block after glue up so even though it's all square, the inlays are not running perfectly parallel to the sides.

I will toy with a limb pad overlay and see how that turns out. Thank you for the idea.

I think I see part of the problem.  "Somebody" is working in the shop in the middle of the night.    :biglaugh:

It would have been about 2:05 for me, one of them far too frequent nights when the old eyes just pop open for no reason at all.

monterey

I'm starting to feel inferior in my bowyer skills given some these bows being put together.

I have all the pieces/parts for my build.  Just gotta find some time to glue it up which may not be for a little while given my travel schedule for work.

I agree with some of the past post.  I forgot that I was even getting a bow until I started seeing pictures of the almost complete ones.  Awesome bow 4 point!
Bow season officially ends tomorrow for me, so I should be able to get rolling on my swap bow....

So I decided on a design and the lam material that I will use.  It will be an all wood tri lam, bamboo back, yellow heart core, and ipe belly.  I've never tried this combo, but it should look and perform well.
I'm looking for opinions on riser and accent material to use.  Which one do you think complements the woods the best: cocobolo or zebra?  This will be the 1st time I use either one so I can't imagine the finished look.
