So while I was on my way home tonight I stopped off at a wood worker store to browse. I came across this wood that I have never heard of but I liked the look of it. I am going to make some veneers/parallels if it's a usable wood.

Is there restrictions on what can be used for veneer?

This, according to the sticker, is called Bali.

I shoot 3 under. I have found that tillering even to 1/4" positive is fine for glass bows regardless of shooting style. if it wouldn't be then string walkers would be up a creek.
I agree!! Just askin for preference ! LOL
Stay sharp, Kenny.

I had to dig this out of a couple of feet of snow, I think it will find a place on the bow I build. I found it a few years and have been looking for a reason to cut into it.

It seems my old eyes read incorrectly. It's Beli... Below is the description from WoodCraft.

Beli (Julbernardia pellegriniana) is native to Cameroon and Gabon in Africa. This is a very affordable substitute for Zebrawood. The heartwood is light brown with alternating darker stripes throughout. This exotic is not commonly exported in lumber form, but as veneer.

Quick question before I get started this next week. Draw style, split finger or 3 under? What's your preference?

ok so here we go. here are some examples I was thinking of. risers on the right wood for lams on the left. risers woods: zebra, bubinga, east induan rosewood, bocote, charcoal dymondwood
lams: red elm, dangerous, walnut, research

of course black glass goes with everything. so give me your opinion on some combos here

It's Beli.looks just like zebra, only not as porous.  I've used a lot of it. Just be careful as it has a tendency to wrap.

It's weird watching all this and knowing the names this time around. Kinda surreal.

There's going to be some happy victims me thinks.

Hi, I am Lonnie and I am a recovering split finger shooter...... Lately I have been shooting 3 under and I think I like it. Chances are good that I will keep it.

ok so here's a set of limbs I did today for a personal bow. flat grain zebra. I'm thinking of doing this with like a shedua or bocote riser OR going the black glass route with a bocote cocobolo or shedua riser....what do you think?

kennym

I'm a split shooter , and love wood grain!! LOL
