I think particle board could make a good core material. Think of it as a poor man's foam.

I got my name. There's some crate wood at work with 1/2 inch wide growth rings. It should be easy to chase a ring on that stuff.    :p
Dave.

I have a few bows with broken limbs, maybe I can combine two and make one good one    :smileystooges:

I found this junk wood in my shop to use. I thought about ordering some nice wood to use but decided my victim would have to just live with this for a bow.   :knothead:

Ewwww dats purty!! Is that b/w ebony?

Yes its black and white ebony veneers. The riser block is Black Palm, Bocote with Redheart for a little color. The core wood is Sugarberry I got from Troy.

I've been waiting for this to start even though I couldn't be in the swap this year.  Looks like some pretty stuff is starting it off.

Even though last years bow was an improvement over the past bows(it was my first glass bow) I have a long way to go to catch up to many here.  This year I will be studying and waiting to get my finances in order so I can build again.   :)

bigbob2

Wow indeed that is some purty wood there!

Pago

I wanted to join in but not that confident in my skills yet.  Looks like I'm watching from the sidelines again. Good luck all.
The best made plan won't get it made the way you planned.

Pago nothing makes you step up your game like making one for some stranger.

And the teasing starts.

I sent out all the names let me know ASAP if you did not get it.

Also let me know if you have built one for the person I drew so I can swap them out.

Horn Chaser

I agree with you there Kelly. I don't have near the ability as a lot of these guys.  I have a blast making them and challenging myself to be better every time. When you make a bow for someone you don't know you will be surprised how much extra effort you put into making that bow for them.

halfseminole

I gotta say I'm intimidated by who I'm building for, but I'm not gonna let it slow me down.  The chair hasn't stopped me, neither will this.  Got a plan, gonna play to my strengths here.  Think I have something you guys haven't seen.

Thank you Kelly, got my address, now to build

Horny -- that wood looks like it's all rotten and moldy. Don't see how it will hold up in a bow.   :smileystooges:

Got my name. Gotta do a little more research. This one is gonna be a challenge I think. I ain't never made no bow like this before.   :dunno:

Particle board or even MDF is great core material .... Just soak it down in glues first    :goldtooth:
