I hate to be the bearer of bad news but........I'm going to have to change game plans after doing a little more stalking.  I already had these glued up and being they are 117 pounds @28 there going to work perfect.  Now I just have to build a riser with enough snot to hold together.

No, that was supposed to be at 29", maybe you can trap the back a little?

As for snot in my new riser, maybe just a little true oil and smooth-on instead?

Exact same here.  It was for me, but came in a bit light -- however, I'm growing quite attached to it.  (Although that seems to be a prerequisite to any swap bow I send out.)  But I would want to build just for ******* from conception to handle wrap.

I've pushed into new territory and ended up challenging myself for each of the previous swap builds.  I'm thinking my victim this year might be my first attempt at a reverse handle longbow with a fancier riser than previous attempts.

Now to select the woods...and do I use clear glass or colored?  Ugh, I guess there's no way I'll be in first place after all!  In fact, it may be awhile before I can post any real candy!

Hey guys.... This is my second stalking for my victim. I have no idea what to build this year.... Very minimal information on my victim once again.

How do you overcome this issue?

Echatham

We could start a thread to talk about what we like     for instance i really dig on yew but i cant get it and cant bring myself to pay the going rate on a stave.  I also lust after mollies and super snaky bows.  Recurves are cool.  So are bendy handles.  You know what.... I pretty much want anything i havent built yet haha..... Except pvc.... Not so much on the pvc.

Same situation here bud.  I couldnt find very much info on my person about stuff he had built in the past or what he liked or a pic of "HIS BOW" .  So i just went with something that looked cool to me instead.  And I understand what I might think is sexy may not be sexy to you.

You could always go with simple classy and elegant  black glass nat boo and coco or bocote or whatever... then you could tighten her up with some copperheads if ya feel like it or just plain black glass.

I'm in the same boat as cantalopeboy, oop's canopyboy:) I have one ready for final sanding that I could send to my recipient. I was going to sell it, but I'll just hang onto it and pick one out of the next 4 or 5 I'll be making... I know how picky my recipient is, so I gotta make the best bow I can make. Those boys out west are very picky fellows:)

You could start at thread with a build and ask questions like I was planing to make either a hill or molly bow. And see if they chime in if not you can go with what ever you want or heck popular vote. And do it and if they chime in great if not others help you pick it out. Or just go with what you know and I bet they love it anyway.

Justin - Last year I had that problem (and actually the year before was worse.)  I just decided to build what I would want, but to their specs.

If my bowyer is wondering what I want, I want them to build me a great example of their favorite bow to build.  The style doesn't really matter as long as it's perfect in every way.  And maybe comes with a set of custom wood arrows cut to 30" BOP.  Oh, and a hand forged knife with scales that match the bow.  And maybe hand delivered by ole' Roybert?

Cantelopeboy is ok, most of the time:)

Ok, I just got back in from the freezer, I mean shop. I went through my stash and picked out the woods for plan A. What do you guys think of a bamboo back, cherry power lam, osage core and scorched bamboo belly with a riser made from white oak and walnut with a jatoba I beam.
Dave.
