that is very similar to how I do some of my grips depending on the owners preference. After trying styles majority go for this type. You have done a great job, congrats.

Looks great!  I made my first couple locator style. As I've gotten used to the hill bows, I've come to prefer the straight grip more. Especially with the deep, thin grip that is almost sharp on the back -- Schulz style. But the greatest part of making your own is working the grip until its just the way YOU want it. Congrats on a fine looking bow. Slap some finish on it and go kill something.

Looking good... I used to slap my wrist with the string too. I learned from watching Dean Torges video that you must shoot with more of a side grip. Like if you were picking up a very heavy suitcase. Now I have no issue... I too have been using a straight grip on my hill bows and may try a little thinner on this time around. I have to work on a new one some more tomorrow.

Great job thus far tho!!

Okay here are the final pictures.  I've said it before but I'm thrilled with the end product.  I have a few things I  would do differently next time.  Learning process for sure.  Ended up doing 8 coats of Tru Oil and 2 coats of Satin Helmsman spar on top.   Thanks to everyone for the help and kind words.

That is a very nice looking bow. I like the slight dish to the handle, much more comfortable and natural feel.
