What a gorgeously crafted bow Tracy...really, really fine work.

I'd love to see the form when you can post a pic also.  Do you possibly have the dimensions of this bow that you would be willing to share?

Thanks again guys!! Seems like alot of other people like this style and looks of this bow.  

Here's a few picks of my cheap form, I add 1 1/2 of reflex and glue the bamboo and osage first then add the handle after.







I'm not a very good bowyer and I'm sure there's better ways but it works for me.

The bow was 67" long, 1 1/8 at the widest point of the fades and 3/8 at the tips. I am trying a lam bow this time with some awesome lams and wood from Kennym. Everything is ready to go I just need to order some smooth-on and get it glued up.

I'm trying to build a bow right at 50 lbs for this season so I'm not sure what lams to use but Kenny and I think we have it pretty close and I went a little thinner on the bamboo this time.

WOW Tracy,that is nice.I would love to see how you plane the bamboo down for a backing. I need to find someone close so I can watch how they do it.I hope your recovery goes well. Flint

Your bow is as good looking as Shultz's, for sure! I, too, drooled over those in the adds of the '90s.

I'm learning a little bit more each time a build a new bow and getting some great advice from master bowyer Charlie lamb as I go. He will be back for the fall hunt so I will see how the bows pass the Charlie test!!

Yes Frank, On this next bow I will be using Kenny's lams and riser wood which are awesome by the way. The last bow was made from a board cut into billets 3"w x 5/8 thick x75" long and spliced. Way more work on the tillering but I'm used to that, Doing it the hard way  :D  

Everytime I looked through that old ad in the TBM's I couldn't stop going back and drooling over it. So simple yet great looking and after shooting Charlie's all bamboo model I was hooked. I said it earlier but I have to say it again it was so smooth and quiet I knew I had to build it. Charlie can sure build them thats for sure and I plan on staying with this type of bow Osage/Bamboo and all Bamboo till I get them down. I am working on a short sienew and snake skinned backed bow for the turkey blind but the Hill style is what I want to make mostly.

Jsweka, You need to build one bud. David Miller makes the same bow and he calls it "The Sage" and I have a hard time staying off his web site. He sure makes some gorgeous bows and I would love to shoot one some day.

Hey Brett! How you been bud?

I'm still working on getting better and shooting some light weight bows and it's coming around slowly but going the right direction.

I forgot all about the arrows        We will have to get togather one of these days since it's cooling down nicely.

Just got a trail cam out and found a great buck to harass in a little over a month with the new bow.

This is a very, very beautiful bow. And please...go back in this post, edit and delete "I'm not a very good bowyer" Bad bowyers dont make bows like that.  

Good Stuff Tracy!  I've been kicking the idea or trying to build one like Johns (I have two)....for whatever reason I havent just been busy I reckon.  Flattening and getting the rind off without getting into the power fibers proves to be an interesting ordeal.   lol.  

Vinson Minor builds a pretty sweet, atleast looking, all wood lam bow.  I wish he'd do a video!  

Hope I am in Ks again next spring,I'll holler if I am...would love to see that bow in person!
