I shoot 3 under. Split is very uncomfortable for me.

I don't shoot either.........I shoot 2 fingers under. The third finger under just got in the way so I dropped it, didn't seem to need it anyway.
Only took about a week for my index and middle finger to strengthen up and get used to it and my groups improved immediately upon switching from split finger to 2 under.

no nothing

Tried both, 3 under brings the arrow closer to my eye and my groups got better.

I tried 3 under a couple years ago and I kept shooting low all the time. Someone told me my shots would start coming up.

I was using the point of the arrow and it didn't seem to help so I went back to split. Maybe I should give it another try.

Did you guys shoot low when you started shooting 3 under, and if so how did you bring your arrows up. Thanks.

Funny, I've been thinking of trying split. Have been 3under since I started but have been slow (in my mind anyway) getting really accurate. I mostly was blaming it on old compound bow habits holding me back. Now I'm starting to think I have just not secured a constantly repeatable anchor point. Anyway I may just stick it out 3under for awhile, cause I like the 56" recurves.

The first 2.5 yrs I shot split and liked it. Tried 3 under several times & hated it. Shooting in a league of trad guys I noticed most of the high score shooters were 3 under so I decided to switch & stuck with it. Been 1.5 yrs now and would not go back unless forced to by injury or something.

I've shot 3 under for about 1 1/2 yrs, the Rick Welch method has been working real well for me, I have found that if I tinker between split and 3 under my shooting falls apart in a hurry....DB

When I first started traditional 7 yrs. ago it was split . After some time I noticed one of the guys shooting 3 under so I tried it . I'm still shooting 3 under and the accuracy isn't even comparable to split . I'm very accurate out to 50 yards .

I have a question, I just got a new tomahawk long bow and I was trying to paper tune it sooting three under. Now I normally shoot split but wanted to switch. I couldn't get the bow to tune at all! It had almost 5-6" tears vertically no matter what I did. I decided to try something, I didn't change anything and shot an arrow split and it was almost a perfect bullet hole. Can someone explain to me why my bow won't tune to 3 under?

I have the same issue with one of my longbows. I think my issue is my release. Plus, I don't use two nocking points. It always shows nock high. Closest I can get is about a 4" nock high showing.

Had my hand caught in a press brake back in the 70's, had to switch to 2 under, the third finger just drags terrible on the string. Much cleaner release. I also only use 1 nock set.
For tillering I don't see any diference, altough i have had a couple of bows that tuned great with a negative nocking point.

The friends that got into archery in the early 70s all shot 3 fingers under and were string walkers, I don`t walk the string anymore just point and shoot, but string walking is a pretty acurate style of shooting,
