I've been messing around this spring, now that I have a little time, and started shooting three under. I really am liking it. I can see down the shaft much better and it seems to be improving my groups. How many of you shoot 3 under?

LongStick64

I switched to 3 Under after struggling to not pinch down on the arrow. Made a world of difference to my shooting.

Same as Longstick here...I actually wore a groove in my index finger from pinching down on the knocking point when I shot split finger..I'll never go back.  I really don't have any negatives to report here.

Does it really make a difference on the tiller?

I don't believe it makes a bit of difference. You could give two bows of identical make one tillered for split and one of 3 under and shoot them and I bet you could tell the difference. If you set up the nocking pt. to fit the bow and the arrows you are shooting it won't make a difference.

3 under here, been shooting that way for about a year. Tightened up my groups a bit.

In 15 yrs and about 2 dozen bows I've never seen any real life difference in how a bow is tillered. Tune your bow/arrow combination and dont think twice about tiller. If you are serious about trying it for real, retune your nock point and brace height and shoot 3 under for a few weeks to see if its for you. Just going back and forth every day or two will just screw up your shooting...........YMMV

Don't shoot off the point, so I don't shoot 3 under..

One of my granddaughters shoots 3 under the other shoots split finger like me..

I shoot both ways. Have bows that shoot better 3 under and some like split. I agree you can see much better 3 under but in turn the bow is louder. Sounds weird to some but I don't have any issues switching back and forth.

shot split a while, but have stuck with 3 under ever since. just more comfortable for me.

I agree about the tiller. (no noticeable difference) You may find your Bow a little "louder", but that's fairly easy to remedy.
Started split, went 3 under & found it changed my shooting for the better.

If this was easy, everyone would be doin' it!

Bowwild

3 under for me.

When I shot split-finger a long time ago and then tried it again as I returned to recurves, I would get a sore index finger at the bottom of the nail against the nock.

No problems with 3 under though.

I started out shooting split finger when I started shooting but switched to 3 under because I was more accurate.

I believe you can tell a difference on tiller. I can for sure. Usually a bow tillered for split need a much higher nocking point to tune for 3 under and the bow will be noisier, if tillered for 3 under the bow will not require an unusually high nocking point and be quieter as well. I used to shoot both once ina while when I had a close shot of 10 yards or so I shot 3 under and gun-barreled. Shawn

I totally disagree with the idea that the bow does not have to be tillered different.  If he bow is not tillered for three fingers under your are changing how the limbs recover.  That is the whole idea behind tillering.  Why do you think that a bowyer puts positive tiller in the bow in the first place?

3 under has really improved my accuracy. This might be better served in the shooters forum though.

I comepletely agree with Shawn Leonard and Knapper about the tiller. I can tell the difference. With an ILF, shooting split I will tiller 3/16 positive and with 3 under I set to even tiller.
