When Jayrod started this thread I had only one experience with wood arrows and they weren't spined properly for me and needless to say I went straight back to my tried and true man made materials and didn't understand. Then at the beginning of this season I wanted to give them another go so I contacted David Lawson and he made a dozen dougfir shafts for me and it was like night and day from my first experience. They are all perfectly straight and fly great!

At the time Jayrod posted this thread I could only oogle at all the great looking wood shafts and harvests but thanks to David I now understand and appreciate the allure of wood.

I have one to add from this past Sept. I never use wood arrows exept off my selfbows, and rarely hunt with them. I did get a real nice pig with my Rob Green selfbow though! This is the first ever critter shot with any Rob Green selfbow!

Double post.  Been a while since I looked at this.  Awesome stuff, guys; yes, wood works!

Here's one that gets to go in the "Cold Weather Kills" topic and "Wood Arrows".  BTW, I only have two (2219s) that aren't with wood arrows.  BTW, what species do you WANT to see?

That's an older Mohawk from Vince, I had to rework the limbs and take some weight off of it after having a heart valve replacement in 2010. Then when I healed up I shortened the limbs reworked the tips and brought it back up to 57#.

Good thing Vince builds such a good bow, killed a bunch animals with it. Hope you enjoy your new bow

You really haven't hunted the old fashion way until you've done it from one of these Indian houses.(The Tipi) "Glenn ST. Charles"

From down on the farm. My wife and daughter spotted this buck one morning. I shot video of him dogging a doe a few hours later. I killed him that evening as he did the zombie-walk past my stand. Port Orford cedar shafts.
