I have always wanted to kill a animal with a wood shaft and couple of my tradgang buddys helped me out "dirtybird and "muzzy75" on testing and tuning my bow to a woodshaft along with all the questions i had.. I really am enjoying this journey the bow is much quieter along with having the weight that i want i hope to be able to share my success pics soon but until will you guys post your setups and pics if you have some please!!

Here is mine!

Sorry Jarrod, I have nothing constructive to add. I just wanted to post in your thread!

Actually, I have killed a couple critters with wood arrows, but it was a looooooong time ago before I was enlightened!

I usually hunt with carbons because I break a lot of wood arrows. I do enjoy hunting with wood, after all, my bows are all made of wood!   :goldtooth:

You really haven't hunted the old fashion way until you've done it from one of these Indian houses.(The Tipi) "Glenn ST. Charles"

Ok, I can add to this thread without being a smartalec!

This is the only critter I have ever killed with a selfbow, and wood arrow, of course! The PH did not know anything about trad bows. He told me there was no way I could kill a warthog with that bow because it was too slow and would never get enough penetration. After we recovered it, he told me I could shoot anything I wanted with my longbow!

I just started hunting with wood this year and got my first kill back in October.  I'm hooked!

This is a cool thread!

I made cedar arrows back in high school and shot a few pigs with them, but have since been carbon only.

It has probably been 10 years since I have shot one!

However I have been thinking about getting back into making them and may do so this spring!
