Ok guys and gals, I am breaking the "man law" for one day. Please forgive me. I received a Vortex 62" longbow in the mail this a.m.  What length string does it take? 59"?   By the way, I now know why you guys like these bows. Wow! It is such a pleasure to shoot! Doesn't feel like it is a 53# bow. It is so dead in the hand you can hold on target all through the shot with no problem. Yeah, it's a keeper. Chrono'd it at lunch with 620gr carbons at 160fps. Not bad. But more importantly it is a joy to shoot. Now if I can just sneak it into the house past my wife! Just kidding.....I'll hide it out in the garage! I have some pics on the computer but I can't figure out how to move them to photobucket. They are on Adobe Photoshop Album and it's not letting go of them!!!argh! I will take some other pics and post tomorrow. Beautiful wood! Razor Makore. Nicely ribboned limbs....how am I doing? Okay, pics tomorrow.

CONGRATS DAVE. They are really great bows. As all Kevins bows are IMO. Gotta post them pics Buddy!<><

David I just had that bow at my house a few weeks ago making a new 450+ string for it. It is a 59" string, and a darn nice shootin bow. Try to email me the pics and I'll get them posted for ya!

GoldenHawk, that string is so skinny. My classic nocks fall off! I'm not use to such a thin string. I am afraid it is going to break. I'm sure it is a great string, just not working for my arrows.

If it is 53#@28" should I be shooting 60-65#spined POC w/ 160gr heads, or 55-60# spined POC w/ 125 heads? I like to hunt with 160gr or more.

It just blows me away the caliber of the people in the traditional archery world! Thanks guys. You know who you are. If ever I can pay you back, I'm there!    Thanks again, David

I am surprised you would use such a light spine. Mine is 49#s at my draw and it like 60-65s cut to 29.5"s I draw 28.5"s and 125 grain heads. Shawn

I'm shooting that RER little river,,55-60 125 grain point and with my 160 grain points I shoot 66# to67# cedars with no problem,,they fly great out of it. Nice bow had my eye on it for a bit, Then I found this little river,,I Love this bow,,

I've not played with arrows on my Vortex very much. I have shot it with 60-65 spine and 125 grain points and it shoots good (50#@28"). I just found that when shooting the RER recurves they seemed to prefer the higher spine, at least to me so that's what I've stuck with . I don't see any problem with a lower spine. I'm just shooting what I've got and it's working. Been shooting poplar but I'm gonna try carbons through it soon.

I shot it last night until it got dark! Need to install a flood light out back.  I have some 75-80# spruce arrows w/ 160gr tips I tried out. A little heavy. They flew pretty good but were hitting 4-6" left of center. Too stiff. 60-65# might do the job...? Or do you think I should try 65-70# first?
