Wanting to work up an extreme FOC combo, planning 350 up front, 3 5" shields with wraps. Shooting 59# Pronghorn R/D longbow and 55# Morrison recurve ( can usually shoot the same arrow from both), draw 28", looking for 28.5-29" arrow bop. Anyone try this or have any suggestions? Thinking the 400 would work at the shorter length, but may need the 340. Thanks

I think you are going to need 340s.  I'm using 400s (~29") with 250 up front from a 55# FF Silvertip.

Yep 340 with that much weight up front.  Why so much weight.  I blow through deer with my DAS Master and 40lb limbs at my 26" draw using 500 MFX Classics with the stock insert and 100 to 125 grain heads.

Plan is to use this combo on hogs, Elk and maybe on my next trip to Africa if they work out, passed on an Eland last time as I thought I was under powered. Looking for penetration on all shot possibilities (they don't always go where I plan), heavy FOC and very slim arrow, following the data from Dr. Ashby. Should work out about 640-680, about 11 gpp depending on the axis or beman.

Thanks for the input guys, will try the 340.

I tried 340s with 260 up front, 31" out of my 58# RD longbow.  They were to stiff.  I figured I would need 300 up front to make them work.  At 28.5-29" I don't know.

I am shooting a 58lbs recurve and shoot the 340 with standard insert and 145 grain points.Wish I could go higher in arrow weight but shafts are to weak.Arrow length is 30.75 inches. If mine are used and gone I will go to the 300 spine.

I shoot a 58# shawnee,  400 just over 29" 100 gr insert and 250 gr. head.  Great flight.

I'm shooting 30" 400s with 300grns up front out of a 55# modern rede longbow. And the same with 250 up front out of a 53# recurve.  I also have 340s with 250 up front out of a 63# recurve. Hope that helps.

Thanks again for the info. ecxactly what I was hoping to hear, I will try the 340 and tune length and see where it ends up. I could always change tip weight a little if neded.
