Wow Ron your elk arrows are amazing! I understand they are footed with a darker wood but what's going on close to the broadheads? Looks like a footing over the footing but can't tell?
Those are just footed once. Just decided to put a small crest on the business end for the fun of it.    :archer:

Thanks Steve!

I used an arrow from the same set of shafts to take a nice bull last September. I photograph my arrows on my mountain lion skin to bring predator mojo to them.

I could never own arrows like those, I'd cry if I ever lost one.

Certainly no competition to those above but these are my first try at wood   [/IMG]

Ttt,   Just finished these up to take on my first bear hunt next month. I had made some earlier this year just like them and shot a 272# boar hog with "Hope". Should do just fine on a black bear!

Some people have seen these in Gary Hall's "D&M Custom Arrows August Stock" thread, but not everyone knows he now also works with wood.

He made up a dozen arrows using the 33" Chundoo shafts that I won in the last St. Jude Children's auction.

I have never shot woodies!  Less than a year into this trad obsession but this thread is making me want to!  Gorgeous stuff

The historical arrows I copied after a real viking arrow found in england, I just changed the nocks for modern bows and reinforced with osage orange, and of course they didnt use truflight feathers as I did and the one I saw was greyish.

So many pretty sets of arrows! I think this thread may be the best place to run up a particular flag. I always get my woodies from larger archery distributors, but I get very cheap options. The end result is that I get simple arrows that don't get a lot of attention to their construction, either because of the volume of the distributor or the simplicity of the arrows. I just cant pay "custom" prices, so thats where I always end up. All I shoot is wood arrows, and my taste is simple. So, can anyone build me a dozen arrows? 50-55#, Classic nocks. 3 x 5" shield cut feather. 2 white, cock feather barred. 28" BOP. Just a coat of stain to dull them down and some finish to protect them? Its simple so I think folks just low ball the effort. If this is something that could get the structural care of a pretty set of customs but for a more modest price, please message me.

Way to step up David! And Lucas, I guarantee you'll get a world class set of woodies that meet your specs! David doesn't "low ball" anything!

Thanks Snag! I just ordered some ASAT camo (its been on my "list" since last season), so in order to avoid a confrontation with my accountant (wife) give me a pay period to sneak another purchase in and I'll be in touch! I've always admired your work, and even "simple" arrows built from you would be quite a treat!

Snag--I believe these are some of your work. Gary asked me to post a pic. Looks like they fit the new TallTines well
