Finally got my pronounced Bingham takedown longbow sanded and finished....She turned out nicer than I thought!!! Thanks to fellow Tradganger, KennyM, I couldn't/wouldn't have done it without ya!!!

Now, for the bad news, I strung her up, and went to the practice range...Shot really well until the next to the last target, and the top loop of my string broke, yea, it hurt...lol. I guess my string groove has a sharp edge? Here's some pics...

Is this angle for the string groove too harsh????

Nice looking bow!

The trick with the tips is there can't be any ridges.  It should be tear-drop shaped.  Where I see problems lots on bows is on the belly side.  There's quite often a ridge left on the glass that'll cut right through strings.  It should be completely smooth and fade into the glass like in this pic of a Massie Longhorn:

That's a very nice looking bow. Love riser shape and wood choice. Great job.<><

Now Brad if that's the bow you plan on me making the custom case for your bike...I'm going to have to be extra attentive...

we don't want that beauty to get roughed up!

Will be in touch after all the kids quivers and last orders are off before the end of this month.
Thanks so much for waiting on me  :)

Looks great Brad!!            Like Jeremy said, the belly side is usually the culprit. You have to round things over as much as possible. I spose you'll be sellin the Widder? LOL
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Good timing on showing off your bow (looks great!).  I roughed out my riser last night and trying decide on how best to finish shaping and blending the limbs into the riser.  Still thinking, but not sure I can do as nice a job on shaping riser as you did.  Here's mine roughed out.  Simple walnut and black glass.

Lookin Good Brad! I'll have to handle that one a bit on the hunt.

Jeremy, thanks, just the picture I needed!!!

Kenny, couldn't have done it without ya, thanks again...She's a shooter too, right where ya look!!!

SOS, I got mine to the point that yours is, and sat outside on a sawhorse, with a big rasp, and went to work....kept playin with it, until I had it where I wanted it! It's still a little thick in the throat of the grip, but the way it shot, I'm leavin it!

Shell, yea, between this bow and a 64" widder!!!

Did somebody say "sell my widder"????? No way, now how.....lol!!! Thanks ya'll!!!

Nice job on the bow! I used to think the recuves were the sexiest numbers out there until i really started looking....these long bows are so sleek and have such nice lines...like a long legged woman in heels....enough to turn yer head looking at these beauties! Some of those hybrid long bows are hot looking too!

Great job guys!!!!
