Does anybody have a Defiant and the longbow both and can tell me about the way they shoot, compared to each other.

I would like to know how quiet they shoot and how smooth the draw is with the Defiant, say at 62" and the longbow at 66".

   Thanks

I have both and they are great bows.  The Defiant is by design a shorter, more R/D bow.  The standard longbow has a mild R/D to the limbs.  The limbs of the Defiant are more of a flat bow design whereas the longbow is a narrow, deep cored limb.  The Defiant may be a touch faster, the standard LB a little more forgiving.  Both are quiet and smooth - however brace height seems to be a little more critical than alot of other LB's - but when tuned properly both shoot extremely well.  It's really a matter of personal taste and application that will decide which model suits you best.

I've own bow a 62" Defiant, and a 64" Dauntless, and have shot a 66" Dwyer Original. I like them all, but my preference is with the Daunltess. All are smooth pulling, Defiant feels more like a Recurve to me, although that may be due to the Ash core limb? Dauntless and Original both had Bamboo cores and are very smooth pulling bows. Very quiet, but as Southpawshooter (I'm a lefty too) said keep an eye on that brace height.
Dave make great looking and shooting bows.

I think i am going to try to find one to buy, if i can find one in my weight range. i don't see many used Dwyer's listed, especially 50# and under.

William,
If you can't find a used one, give Dave a call, sometimes he has bows in stock.  I have two originals and they are smooth.  Recommended brace height is 7 1/4" - 7 3/8" but with tuning mine is set at 7 1/2."

I have a defiant and my dad has a dauntless.  Both are great bows.  I have shot the classic longbow and liked it too.  If I were to buy one today i would go with the Defiant with glass over bamboo.  That is what dad's is and it rocks.
