"Turkey Caddie" for your DB blind

Folks - this year I'm using a Double Bull blind and I love it for hunting turkeys..... BUT the darn thing gets heavy when I carry it. I have the 360 Matrix Recurve Model. The single shoulder strap just digs in and hurts my shoulder and can slip down off my shoulder as I walk.  I hunt a long ways from the road, but the walking is fairly flat and easy on two tracks and old logging roads..... There had to be a better way......

So, I was thinking while I was in my blind the other day waiting for a turkey to show up and remembered seeing somewhere..... in a magazine or on a web site...... (maybe even this one) a photo of a guy pulling a golf cart with his blind attached..... Hmmmmm!

In my garage I had a old golf cart that I used years ago when I played golf with my boys when they were growing up..... I decided to check out the idea when I got home....

I dug it out of the loft in the garage.... slapped the Matrix on her and slipped the two bungie cords around it just like a golf bag...... Presto, it fit perfect.... Took the cart out back and gave her a nice camo paint job and the "Turkey Caddy" was born......

Only wish it was my idea...... If anybody out there remembers seeing the photo or article about it please let me know where you saw it...... Anyway, here are some photo's of it on it's first hunt this morning..... No turkeys were seen today.... but the "Turkey Caddie" worked great!







After I walked for a while I even added my vest to the cart and just carried my bow....



I picked this pull cart up a few years ago for $5 at a garage sale.... I see them out there all the time...... If I get to a spot where I can't take the cart but want to go I'll just stash it and carry the blind the rest of the way....... for $5 and a little camo spray paint I'm not going to worry about someone taking it, espescally not back where I'm hunting..... This will really increase how far away from the truck I hunt now and I can even do some run and (gun) bow now!

We have been using the carts for years.  Have posted about them a lot of times, both here and on the stick site.  Best thing I did for mine, bought a round concrete form at the big lumberyard, bout 8 inches around.  taped a ice cream bucket to one end, and tie the form to the cart.  Slide the blind down in it, and they stay on the cart better than just the blind alone.  Don't know how big they are as have never used one, but an old golf bag mite do the same trick.  Take care,  Swabby

Hi, the Wild Thing pack from DB is the only way to go hands down, also lets you be hands free, easy to get to your blind and gear, won't leave home without it

I put a square "Kitty Litter" plastic bucket on mine using cable ties and leave the bag and bungees at home. Decoys and seat fit right in next to the blind.

I just got back from South Dakota and used a pack frame to carry my DB Matrix.  I just srapped the blind and two chairs on and off I went.

Finally, something productive to do with my golf cart.  Quite a few years ago, after not playing very well, I decided to take a lesson.  After the lesson, the pro gave me this advice.  He said, "First, I want you to put your bag and clubs in the garage for two weeks."  "Then," he said, "I want you to forget about them."  I am rather camera deprived, the one we had went to camera heaven and not replaced.  The pan strapped to the bottom sounds like a great idea.  That wasthe biggest problem, the bottom of the blind slipping off the base of the cart. Unless you have a super strong one, don't think the cart will haul a deer. I do have a deer cart and it works rather well for hauling a chain on stand and some climbing sticks.  The golf cart would probably work for that too, but havn't had it along then.  Take care all,  Swabby

Now I know what to do with those big wheels from a baby bycicle trailer I have. Not strong enough for a deer cart but they will be perfect for a blind cart!!

Hey my wife has one of those in the garage. I just think I will hijack it!    She won't miss being camoed up! It will be a lot more quite than my Polaris 500  :D

I tried to build a carrier from a double golf bag shoulder strap.  It didn't work very well.
   I have to agree the Wild Thing pack that Double Bull sells it the best. It is rather expensive but I picked mine up from the sporting goods store. It had been sitting around long enough that they started marking it down, When it got down to where I thought it was worth it I picked it up.

I used the same thing this spring, and it really works slick. I picked up a used one at a flea market for $5.00.
I read a Curt Wells article in Bowhunter Magazine, in which he suggested it.    
Makes me wish i was still turkey hunt'n.

Now I wish my blind didn't roll/fold into a circle.  Of course I'm sure I could revise a golf cart to hold it.  Just couldn't do it as shown or with the cement form.  Sure would be better coming back especially, when you have to add the weight of a dead turkey to all the other stuff your carrying!

Heres another option.  Buy an extra carry bag from Ameristep for their Brickhouse (or Bighouse if you have the Recurve model).  Those bags have backpack straps sewn on and are the cats meow if you carry your blind for any distance.  I used to have a DB and the carry bag isn't built for easy carrying compared to what else is out there.
