Question?

Well the Wife is complaining that I take archery and Hunting to serious, and that I should take my carrier just as serious or more seriously. I told her that my job pays for my life, My job is not my life. She is not happy about that she on the other hand works all the time and make very little time for a personnel life. What can a guy do? I work for ISU (Iowa State University) as a GIS Specialist = Staff :mad:

Try to get her involved and give her an outlet like you have.

well she does archery with me and she has a few hobbies, but she just would just rather work.

Then that's her choice and just talk it out. So long as your obligations are fufilled and you have no debt that isn't being met, then enjoy yourself,

Just my opinion and observation. Some people cannot stop and smell the roses. They are driven and consumed by there career. And have no time or desire for the simple things in life. Be it a squirel playing in a tree. Or just sitting on bank of a stream watching the water roll on by. To bad for them they miss the most wonderful part of living. Usually for work! To bad for them!

Man the only reason I work is so I can enjoy life. I don't live so I can work!! When it is all said and done and we have gone to meet our creator who will really care that we spent more of our life working than playing. New motto=work to live not live to work.

You know, she probably has a point. You're carrer could be better if you put more into it. The thing she seems to be missing is that your work is not your passion, and that is the way it is for most of us.

For her, if work is truly her passion, and she enjoys throwing herself into it, that's fine, and she is very lucky. But for most people, like yourself, me, and most others I know, their true passions in life are something other than work.

When life is over, those who have devoted themselves to whatever their passions were are the ones who will die fullfilled and happy. Very few people on their deathbed wish they had spent more of their life working.

I hope you and your wife are able to talk this out so that both of you understand each other and it doesn't become a problem between you. Keep the communication going, and work hard at it. It is an issue you will ultimately need to resolve.
