I know I'm gonna get some guys saying 3blade and some two blade, this year will be my first season bowhunting for deer and want to try some braodheads over the summer to see which ones shoot well, I will be using a 45# bow from a tree stand shooting at whitetail and some big hogs!, so which would you reccomend?

My wife's bow is 43# and she uses four blade Phantom heads. She shoots thru everything without any problems.

I started using woodsman heads last fall and have re3ally been happy with how they shoot.  Before that it was zwickeys and I don't have anything bad to say about them, just wanted to trya a three blade.  The main thing I think, I make sure you can get which ever one you choose, scary sharp.  If you can do this, you will be happy with the results.

Snuffers, easy to sharpen and a very tough head. Shawn

I like the 3 to 1 ratio, For me I cant tell the differance in the arrow flight. Another words my point of aim doest change when I switch back and forth. I use Howard Hill 145gr glueded to a Broadhead Adpt that is non converta point. I shoot 45# recurve my arrow is 2016 with a 175gr converta field point arrow weight is 525gr. With the HH 165 and 510gr. The arows are 29 to BOP. They are heavy and find the target with consistanty. I dont get fishtailing and I get good penetration. Hope this helps.

Zwickey or what ever looks good to you. since they seem to all work.
"instinctive archery" is more like playing the violin. Without practice you may remember the mechanics, but you will not be a virtuoso.

The woodsman if you like 3 blades or one of the bigger Simmons (tigershark)if you want a two blade. Both work well on hogs and deer at your bow weight and will leave some blood on the ground to find them.jmo
....Quality deer management means shooting them before they get tough....

Curveman

I like the three blades best and have used both Snuffers and WW's. They both seem to work on anything and leave a nice blood trail.

Whichever you like! They all have their good & bad points (no pun intended) I personally prefer Zwickeys & Woodsmen, but everyone's got their own faves! Not a huge fan of snuffers, penetration wasn't great unless they were sharpened to perfection. Woodsmen seemed less critical, Zwickeys were brilliant so long as your arrows are spined correctly. I've never heard a bad report about the Simmons range & can attest to their penetration capabilities.

What ever flies best from your set-up is what you should use. Keep it sharp and put it where it belongs and you'll make meat.

The "45# bow and big hogs" parts would make me lean toward a good 2-blade head.

There are lots of good broadheads available-That is reflected in the answers. I do not beleive that there exists a finer head than the Eclipse. I have also happily and successfully used Zwickeys, Magnus and Ribteks as well as a few others. I believe that 2 blades have advantages that outweigh the purported advantages of multiblade heads.
