This was my first traditional big game animal almost eighteen years ago now.

I'm carrying a few more pounds around and there is a little more gray in my beard today.

Hey Dan, and anybody else that wants a bugling e-mail notification on your computer, follow these directions:

1.        go to  www.elkheaven.com,  click on sounds, then go to the bottom of that page and click on the different wave files until you find just the right one.  Right click on it, and save it to somewhere on your computer's hard drive;
2.        go to your computer's control panel, click on settings , then sounds;
3.        when the sound box opens, click on the top sound tab and choose "windows default" for sound scheme;
4.        then click on "new e-mail" in the lower "program events" box
5.        click on browse and find the wave file you saved and click on it
6.        click on "apply" and it should work (or your computer may crash and the IT police will be very unhappy).

You can save any photo of a bugling elk as your screen saver.  My special photo was taken by a Utah friend on his San Juan hunt (he shot this particular bull with his camera, not his bow).  Since it is his photo which he may publish someday, I won't display it here.

Hope this helps.  I can never get enough bugling elk sounds, it helps me forget reality at work for a while.

Be sure to drop that comma on the elk heaven link or it won't work.

Thanks Jeff. I can't wait for email now!

Hey Steadman, looks like we have a common friend from Utah - BB aka Bill Allard.  Can you believe he passed up that bull?

Elksong

I know Bill too.  I could not believe he passed a couple of the bulls he did that year!

Yea those are Bill's pictures, and No I could not believe he passed up that one. I was supposed to go down with him over Labor day but my wife got real sick. He is an awesome guy, and as Ernie knows, tough as nails!! Good luck to every one this year, Steadman

Great googly-goo Fred!  I'm a greenhorn when it comes to elk antlers in hand but Plumbob's pic sure impressed this guy.  That's more antler than I'll ever gather from all of my Appalachian whitetails glued together....
