I am using aluminum arrows for the first time out of my bow. They seem to fly great and I am hitting the target, but they are also making alot of noise. The bow is quiet, but the arrows make a rattling sound on the way to the target. The sound is not obvious to the shooter but can be heard clearly by people a distance away. The rattling increases with distance.
When I have shot carbons and wood arrows out of this bow there has not been this sound. Is this normal? If not what might the problem be?

Thank you for your time, Juniper Bow

Have you checked the points and inserts. I have had loose field points rattle like that. They are not as quiet as wood, but aluminums have always been pretty quiet for me.

They make rubber and polyurethane washers to keep your points solid and quiet.  Your local archery shop should sell them, or get them at a hardware or automotive store.

One way to keep points from loosening up is to put small amount of string wax on the threads and tighten up-keeps that rattling at bay.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

I'll second the string wax trick     Been using it for years!!!!!

One more thing is that aluminium arrows sometimes "ping" coming off the arrow shelf, you may have to adjust your nocking point.
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

Okay, that could be the problem. The arrow points have been a bit beaten from stump shooting (and some unintentional rock shooting). Maybe that contributed to lossening them because I hadn't noticed this untill a few days ago.
Thanks, Juniper Bow

if it is your points just put some string wax on the thread and it will stop them working lose.
