Here it is.  After a couple months of an hour here and an hour there, it is done.  I did one for my son first so if I messed it up, it wouldn't be mine.  Just kidding...sort of.  Anyway, I backed it with linen and finished it with spar urethane.  The handle is deerskin and the rest is latigo leather.  I used oak for the riser and the tips.  I found it to be easier than I expected with all the tutorials and advice from Tradgang.

I did it without a bandsaw and used a handheld belt sander for most of the shaping.  I can definitely see how a band saw would shave hours off this project.  Let me know what you think.

Very nice  :)

How's she shoot? How about some specs? How long is it? If I were you I would round those edges just a bit to give you a bit of added protection in the long run. Your handle looks pretty square too, you could easily round that off a bit. Of course it's up to you if you want to re-do the wrap and everything.

Very nice first effort

Nice first effort and you have every reason to be proud. I know what you mean. My first effort (wood lam) is being voted on (even as we speak - LOL) for April Laminated BOM on the Primative Archer forum - Tough field too!

I also agree about the edge rounding - to prevent raising a splinter. Every time you change it (as you go), round edges a little as you work them, I was taught. Safety for both the bow and yourself.

How much rounding do I need to do?  I took the edge off of it, but not a big round radius.

When i posted that i was trying to remember what common item Mike told me as an example (of course I couldn't). Maybe a pencil eraser??? Or Drinking Straw? - perhaps he'll (or someone else) will see this and come up with it. Anyway, anything less than a corner or square edge is certainly going to help, at any rate, and then go from there. Perhaps these pics will help - he was pleased with these edges. There isn't a huge difference.

Ol'school

Very nice first bow! I've made a few from staves, haven't tried a board bow yet. Be careful though, I found out that selfbowitis is very addictive.

"Pea" - yeah that's it! Thanks, Mickey. I hate when I can't remember things.

And if you (meaning anyone) haven't clicked on mickeys link there and the thumbnails, then read the text (whole thing only takes about 5 minutes) - please do it. Very easy, cioncise and self explanatory - you'll be glad you did.

"Pea" Yeah - that's it!    :knothead:

Jawge, your site was the primary resource for this bow.  Thank you very much, sir.  You gave me a project I am proud of and a one of a kind birthday gift for my son.
