What is the concensous about how many lds of bow weight/force you add by increasing draw length from 26" to 28"? Is it 2lbs per inch so the 57lb would increase to 61lbs?

bentpole

Usually 3#s per inch so around 63#s at 28"s

wasapt

Wow, 3lbs per inch, I didn't think it would be that much. Thanks for the info!

Actually, if I'm not mistaken it's more like approximately 5% per inch.

It depends on the bow and the design...Very few doing 2lbs...more along the lines of 3lb, but you can't really be sure unless you scale it...3lbs is a pretty common guesstimate, though.

bjk has it exactly right.  I can only add that if the bow were to start stacking hard around that 26" mark, the per inch increase in draw weight could be considerably over 3#'s.

The shorter the bow the faster the stacking starts(as a general rule). If it is a very short recurve you could get 3 pounds in the first inch and 4 - 7 in the next and then hit a wall where you can't pull the bow another inch. That is part of the design comments above. Anyway a well designed and built bow will make on average of 3# per inch after 26" (if I am remembering correctly).

This a 58" Black Widow, I believe the bow quality should be up to par. I'm looking for a 63 -66 lb pull @28" and although I prefer a 60" length, this 57lb @ 26" is priced right. Delima is pass on this one and wait on a 60" length already built bow 63-66lb @28, or go ahead and take it - can't shoot it as it is in another state. What would you do?
