4 fletch on a "Bitz"

Quick question to you Bitz users.

Do you need a different nock indexer to do 4 fletch on arrows of do I just change the set screw on the indexer?  Will it matter if I will be doing these with a straight clamp offset and the jig is set up for left wing?
I can't remember at the moment and a friend of mine would like his arrows reletched with 4 fletch.

All you have to do is change the set screw on the indexer.  You can click thru and make sure everything is correct before fletching.

On my Bitzenburger you need to change the nock indexer from a 3 to 4 when doing 4 fletch.

As for using a straight clamp in place of one set for left or right is you take the full helical out of your fathers.  Yes you can get the feathers off set but you won't get the helical twist that gives your arrows more spin.

All you need to do is change the set screw from 120 to 90 or 75 x 105 depending on what type of 4 fletch you want.  It does not matter what type of clamp you use.

I'm fletching these arrows for a "training wheels" guy.  He asked for off-set feathers. I'll work on getting him helical or even Trad. for that matter.  Gotta start slow.

if you use right wing, use a right wing index if you use left wing use a left wing index three or four fletch. straight/diagonal, it doesn't matter.

it's true helical will give more spin than diagonal/offset.

chuck adams says 4 degrees of helical set is ideal.

the indexes are availble from most online catalog houses for around $15.00

I don't change anything...just do two feathers (one cock and one hen), then flip the arrow around and start again (one cock, one hen).

I use a helical.

I believe this was Kelly's preferred method.

BJK,  I just may give that a try with a test arrow and see if he likes it.

I use helical for myself as well.  These are for a friend that I havn't converted yet.

Yep, there are good instructions on the Arrows by Kelly site for the 60/120 4fletch....

He has instructions for left handed shooters as well...

I have been doing all of mine that way for a couple of months, it's really cool being able to nock your arrow either way!!
