Are there any companies that make a hard case that would be large enough to house an un-strung 1-piece recurve or longbow?

I bought a 3" PVC pipe and glued a cap on one end and a screw cap on the other for my Longbow. just put some foam in the bottom before you glue on the cap. Use a bow sock then foam on the top before you screw on the plug and youre set to go.
Total cost was about $10.00 and it's perfect protection.

Very good idea for truck travel, but it might get me tackled walking in the airport!!!

Do a internet search (sport tube) I cannot give you the site address, site rules. I use one of there double ski cases. Mine held two bows, two dz arrows fanny pack sleeping bag and a lot of other stuff. TSA guy at the airport had fun putting it all back in  :jumper:   They are super tough adjustable for length and have wheels on one end! SWEET

You could also look into golf club travel cases.  My dad uses his for traveling with archery stuff.

I have a fishing pole carrier I purchased from a sports shop.. You can adjust the length and fit two longbows....

Shortstrke is correct and ya can put cloth tape over it. It would draw no more attention than any other case at an airport. Shawn

I work at one of NY's major airports. You see those pvc tube cases quite a bit whether it's for fishing rods or bows. You won't be able to carry it aboard so you'll give it up at check in & pick it up on arrival. Just make sure you put a TSA openable lock on the unscrewable end. When it's inspected, snap it shut. If the TSA has to inspect it again somewhere along the line they have the master keys to open it.
I think mine cost $8. to make w/o the lock. They're about $6. ea.
Also, if you're bringing an arrow case, tape it to the bow tube . .it'll go as one piece! They charge extra per piece for additional baggage.

Just ordered a hard travel case from 3rivers, a little expensive but very nice.

Cody:
I traveled to Africa twice with a 4" PVC tube with 66" longbows in them, no problem.
