congrats, i love the three beards, also like to see someone else puts the decoy so you can pick it up if it falls over without getting out of the blind.

the Ferret

AWESOME.....

How do ya like that decoy? More importantly how'd the turkeys like it?

I still can't believe you guys can stick those blinds out in the open like that and kill turkeys!

Thanks guys for the nice compliments.Got in there this morning & had several birds gobbling on the roost.Had one that was what I had guessed to be around 80-100 yards from were I had set the blind. He was really gobblin good.I never did hear him fly down, but I could tell that his gobble sounded like it had moved some,so I guessed he was on the ground.I gave him a few soft calls & he answered. When he got to were he could see my deke his head changed colors instantly & he started towards it.I got me guillotines to try this year & really wanted to head shoot one on purpose instead of accidently like I had before...lol...He got about 10 yards from the blind & I concentrated on his head & I don't know what happened but I missed & missed pretty good.He wheeled around like nothing had ever happened & went into a strutt,he broke strutt & come on in to about 3 or 4 yards from the blind.By this time I has another arrow ready(steelforce 125 4 blade, didn't have but 1 guillotine with me)& hit em right in the wing butt.He took off running & got enough air under him to make it over a bank & down in the cedar thicket he went.I thought my shot was good but there was no blood, just a few feathers on the ground.I got myself together & give em about 30 minutes & start down in the thicket looking for him. These eastern red cedars are so thick you can barely crawl threw em.I look for a while & went back to the house to calm down & get something to drink & cool off.Tryed to find some help without any luck,so I wnet back by myself & look somemore. At this point I'm hot ,tired & really low on patients.Figure I'd stop & come back later this evening,I get about half way up the side of the hill I'm on & something catches my eye.I get closer & couldn't believe it,there he was under a dead cedar.I had walked past the spot at least 2 or 3 times already & didn't see em under there. He went probably 150 yards for were I'd shot him.I'd spent close to 4 1/2 to 5 hours looking for him.Don't ever give up especially when you know it's a good hit. Thanks for letting me share.....

That's great Mark,I'm happy for ya bud.....

But I gotta tell ya,I don't aim for the wingbutt(I mean the true wing butt,up front on the shoulder where the wing attaches, the ball joint) anymore.....A hit about 3-4 inches back, same hight and they won't go 20 yds......I learned the wing butt lesson the hard way......

Thanks Ron & Curt....
Curt your right about the wingbutt,I hit right on the joint(actually about an inch behind it) were it meets the body, should of been back somemore. After putting it off for several seasons I think I may just have to get a string tracker for these turkeys.

Congrats Mark!!! Beautiful bird and awesome effort following up after the shot!!!!   Dan
To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.

Congrats and way to stick to it!! That story was well worth the wait!! A week from today for us Buckeyes!!
