I keep mine strung all the time....
Traveling I may unstring it....
   I think theres more stress on the bow while stringing and unstringing process than there is keeping it strung.

I leave the recurve I shoot on a regular basis strung. My other recurves stay unstrung on my bow rack. I always unstring my longbows though.

I unstring my bows because I can't fit them on my rack strung. I keep the one I'm currently shooting strung. Glass backed bows are good to go strung provided you store them correctly. All wood bows need to unstrung as they will take a "set". I always unstring my bows if I have any inclination they are going to be exposed to heat.

I leave my ACS-CX strung unless I know I won't be shooting for several days (discussed this with O.L. when I got it).  I unstring all my other bows after each shooting session.  I would never leave an all wood or self bow strung other than when shooting it.

Laminated bows generally stay strung.  Selfbow gets unstrung when I'm done shooting.

well i have a question, I know someone that has left his Bob Lee strung for umm about 15 years without shooting it. will his bow be harmed by this? my guess would be that it would be.

I doubt it. Probably be fine if it has been stored properly in a controlled environment.

I unstring mine almost all the time. I don't know if that is the right thing to do, i use a stringer so I'm not afraid of harming the bows when i restring them.

During the season my glass bows stay strung. Any selfbow or bamboo backed bow I may have built only gets strung during use.

I leave mine strung 24/7. This topic has popped up from time to time and I read a reply from a guy a few months back that said he had left his Bear recurve strung for 40 years and it had only lost about a pound in draw weight. I can't say if that was a fact or not but thats when I started leaving mine strung. I do unstring my Boo bow when I'm not shooting it though.

I am surprised so many keep their bows strung. I always unstring mine and I think most archers do. For me of there is also a practical reason because I need to unstring it to put it in my bag in order to go home from practice on bike. :-) But I have always been taught to unstring the bow. I use stringer.

i leave laminated bows strung for long periods of time.

so far...none have been damaged or lost poundage.
