Well My Wife and I spilt-up on April 14Th, I then grabed some stuff and came to Texas.. anyone know of some State land to hunt on near Wharton, TX

Littlefeather

Welcome to the bowhunting Promise Land! The Colorado River is very close to you. There is a River crossing on HWY 59 that has some great bowfishing access. The river shore is actually shallow enough to wade along. I've seen some great fish there while I didn't have a bow. There is also great Goose and hog hunting in the area. State Land? Humm? Don't know of any but check the TPW Website and you'll surely find some somewhere close. Aransas Wildlife is south of you and full of game including Gators, which is now legal game. Good luck! CK

Check out the Corp of Engineer properties adjacient to many Texas lakes. I'm not familier with Wharton, don't even know where it is located in this great state of ours but I would be surprised if you could not find some corp land nearby.

There very little public land in Texas.  85 percent of Texas is privately own.  Most people (if you can afford it) lease or go on day hunt leases.  The Texas Parks & Wildlife have certain places you can hunt but it's on a draw system.

LUCKY MAN

I hunt on a little piece of TEXAS called Davy Crockett National Forest, only 140,000 acres.

Must be in the 15% SIDEBUSTER is talking about.

EAST TEXAS has plenty of Public Land, come over and hunt it sometime.
