Arrow weight and speed

Just curious as to how efficient my set-up is. I shoot an older Damon Howatt Hunter 55@28. I draw 28 1/4" and shoot a 29" 2114 with a 175 tip. Arrow weighs right around 530grs and I'm getting between 169-174fps. Does this sound about right?

Don't know if this helps as a comparison, but with a 30" 525 grain 2413, my 62" 56#@29" Chek Mate Hunter II generates 184FPS.  I have a 58" Hunter I 60#@29" that generates 187FPS with the same arrow.

The Hunter I is designed with speed foremost in mind, while the Hunter II sacrifices some speed in favor of forgiveness/shootability.  Both these bows are set up with Flipper II rests.  I believe the 62" limbs probably are more efficient than the 58" ones which is why the speeds are so close.

I like to try to set up my bow/arrow combo to generate 180FPS or better.  I test averaging 5 consecutive shots over a chronograph set up 4' from the bow. Purely a personal choice, but I like a nice quick arrow and will trade some arrow weight to get it. Needless to say, I'm setting up with medium (deer to elk sized) game in mind.

I would guess that considering your draw length, draw weight, and arrow weight, you're getting about what you should expect from your set up...

Sounds about right. I had a Bob Lee 60# @28 that shot in the high 160's to low 170's with 29" 2016 and 125 gr tips
