Last month I picked up my mount from my first deer I shot with trad gear. I am so pumped, it came out great. I have been working really hard at getting good with my longbow as well as my recurve. I think the compound will stay home a lot more this year! Here is the link to the story of the hunt.

I got a way you can assure yourself of leaving the compound at home??

SELL IT!!

Congrats!! Nice deer!!

I got my first last year as well....and should have the mount back anyday.  Doesn't come close to the size of some of my compound kills...but...it will occupy a place of prominence.
When the journey becomes as valuable as the goal........go "traditional."

Nice buck and mount! Not quite the same as with a compound eh? Take care, Matt

Thanks for all the positive responses guys. He is 19.5" wide inside spread. I did take the tag off of it but i did save it.
I used Jonas Brothers taxidermy. They are a bit expensive but they do museum quality work, the mount is fully tanned and not just cured, the guarentee it's done in 6months or it's free....my last 2 mounts were 3 months to the day.

That looks like a good young deer with great genetics. That seems like some pretty good incentive to keep striving for another traditional wallhanger  :archer:
Is it September yet?!

Actually he was estimated by 3 different people(Taxidermist and 2 butchers) to be between 5.5 and 6.5years old. He weighed 250#'s and had a lot of wear on his teeth........bad genetics I guess...or lack of quality food. we hunt suburbs and landscaping and acorns are all the deer have to eat.

Fine job, man!  I hope he tasted good too!

Very pretty. Your buck looks like he could finish jumping through the wall.
