Is there a formula for percentage of glass to wood in a limb? Never remember hearing anything.....  The bow I'm thinkin of buildin will be 50-55#@28",62" long and hybrid design.Just wondering whether to go .050,.040,or something else?
Thanks,Kenny

if i recall it right 30% glas and 20% for carbon.
this statment is from O.L.
.040 is enough for a 50lbs bow,or should i say,thats what i use.

Thanks Andreas,I built a bow that looked to take a little set just off the fades after bein strung for hunting season, wondered if the glass was too thin.

Kenny,
I recently made a longbow with a cedar core and .050 black glass. Mine seemed to take a bit of set just off the fades too. I think this was a result of cedar being such a weak wood (in this case in terms of perpendicular compression). It took this set after about 100 shots and hasn't gotten worse after 1000+ shots. It shoots quick, quiet, and with no shock. I think these qualities are a result of the light, but springy nature of the wood (basically a filler between the glass). I want to experiment woth cedar cores more, but I'm leary of the weak wood structure...maybe I'll post a question here to get more info.

Sorry to hijack your thread with my ramblings.
