Looking to get a mild r/d bow built what are some of the top bowyers/bows that I should consider?

Orion

I like Great northern Critter Gitters, Robertson stykbows and Northern Mist Baragas.

I have a Wild Horse Creek Kestrel and I love it. Mike makes a very smooth and beautiful bow.

I have owned several mild R/D longbows. They have all been really good. Northern  Mist Superior, Wes Wallace Royal, Byron Ferguson Royal and Great Northern Bushbow. I currently own the Great Northern Bushbow and I am very pleased with it. I have also looked at the Wild Horse Creek Destiny, it looked like it would be a great shooting bow. The Great Northern Critter Getter gets a lot of good reviews.

NM superior would be my top choice. It's a great bow!!!

Also would recommend the 7 Lakes silent night. Affordable too and a great bow as well.

I like the Northern Mist Baraga also  I had a Dwyer Dauntless that was a great shooting bow as well, along with Pronghorns. Great guys to deal with.

The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

Toelke Whip, BW PLX, A&H are all great shooting bows with similar profiles.  I have an older JD Berry Taipan that's a really nice shooter also, but it has a more mild profile than the other 3.

Here are the A&H and the PLX side by side

It's hard to beat the Black Widow PL series. Smooth, fast, silent, accurate. It's my main hunting bow for deer and elk.

You can spend more money but you won't kill more deer than you will with a KANATI!

Many bows listed above are not true mild R&D longbows.Too much reflex/deflex and dont string into the classic D shape like an ASL longbow.

The ones listed that fit the category above IMO are the GN Bushbow and also the the GN Critter Gitter.Gritter Gitter is very nice! The Northern Mist Baraga and also his Superior. The Yellowstone Longbow,Wild Horse Creek Destiny,J.D Berry Tiapan (reverse handle).Robertson Stykbows made them and was one of the 1st to offer them along with J.D Berry. Not sure if those 2 Bowyers are still offering that design.Berry's last one was called the Argos. He built other ones in the past. The Dwyer Original longbow fits the category.

Many of the good ones are no longer being made as Bowyers have retired that offered them.Frederick Longbows made a beautiful one!Black Swan had a double carbon one.The Mohawk Sparrowhawk was excellant and Trad Gangs Rob Stephano helped with its design. He built it like I like.Nice job Rob!He new the style and it was executed very well.

The Mahantango Kestral that is currantly being made is a very nicely designed mild R&D and a very good shooter.Narrow limb, deep cored and strings into a perfect D shape like a Hill style bow.It also has a trappezoid limb.Trapped from belly to back.I recommend looking at it!

I think Greg Coffey offers his Sweet Grass longbow still. That fits the bill.

I owned alot of those style bows.I was fond of them.My 1st longbow was a mild R&D 30years ago.Wedding present from my Wife.A Frederick Regeant.

I have an old Kota Badlands that I really like.  All my other longbows are too radical D/R.  If you ask Tim he may make you one, it's not on his current list.

Hold ya to that Snuff, I just ordered a 56" in green wood, 45#@25", it should make a great tight spot bow!

I'm partial to Primal Tech but I've shot a few different ones the last few years I liked.
I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.

This is a picture of my Great Northern Bushbow strung up on the left. 64 inches long. It's a mild R/D.

Yup, steelhead named dropped some of the best in the "mild d/r" category.  I had a long fancy with that style and had a wall full of them.  This is the only one I still have yet.  A Liberty Stealth by Allen Boice one of those unicorn bow molds he had in the shop.  Made from the original contender mold before the added reflex with a very slight dish grip similar to John Strunks glass bows.  Rest in love Allen!  If I had to get one from the bowyers still around it be a 66"  Mahantango Kestrel by Jim Martin or 66" Superior from Steve Turay.  Off the classifieds a used 64" Jerry Brumm critter gitter w/ wedge tips would be a gem.
