Looking for advice on python skins. I have read some that they are thicker than other skins? I wanted to have them installed on a new longbow. Are they way thicker than most skins or just slightly? Everyone says most skins don't affect performance but I wondered if these were that much thicker than most types if they would be detrimental? I thought if I could find skins from a young snake they may be thinner? Any advice appreciated. Steve

They are thicker, but not heavy enough to change bow performance. The skins that Mike Yancy / Pine Hollow (sponsor) sells are very nice. I have even used skin from a very large pet type boa with no change of bow action.

Shaun, I was looking at Mike's skins at Kzoo, and asked him about the pythons he had.  He said they would be too thick for a glass bow, and would be better as a backing on a self bow.  I'm not sure why. He steered me toward the thinner skinned snakes. The pythons sure were nice looking!
