I've used a small piece of rattlesnake skin as a sideplate a time or two. By leaving the scales on and orienting them in the direction of the arrow flight, they have proven to be durable and quiet enough. Plus, I like how it looks! I just cut to shape and attach with barge cement. Anyone else done this? Good results?

I have done it as decoration but wasn't smart enough to turn scales that way. But I always removed scales anyway.

WOW! Never seen or heard of that.  That's pretty slick right there, pun intended.  :jumper:

Prairie Rattler with scales removed. Still quiet enough, a tiny bit thinner, and we'll see how durable after a few thousand shots.

That is WAY cool!  Any need for a 'tutorial' for this application?

It's so simple, even I can do this.  :knothead: Cut a piece of dried snakeskin oriented with the scales in the direction of the arrow shot and glue it on with barge cement. Comes off quite clean if you change your mind. I'm experimenting with and without scale removal. I have a hunch it doesn't make much difference.

Same bow as posted above but used in fade outs also.
