Can you buy new longbow for about $400.00 if so what company sells them beside Bodnik which is always out of stock, I have been away from trad gang for a long time, I am not up to date with all the new  bowyers and what they sell any more.

Thank you

John Whitaker

Check out Maddog Archery in the sponsors list. He's got some in that range and all I hear are good things about them. The used marked is also a good place for some other bowyers in that price range.

Plenty of facebook pages like Northern Mist fans and Howard Hill style longbows tend to have bows up for sale regularly. I tend to just look as getting one sent here to Aus could be an issue.

Also, 3Rivers have some of their own brand like the Mountain Mesa that might fit the bill.

It's according to what you want.  Bear Montana new is about there.  Maddog Prairie Predator is less but you may  have to wait for it to get built.  It didn't take long for mine.  Between these two I would wait for the Prairie Predator.  I have one of each and the Prairie Predator beats the pants off the Montana for less money.  Yellowstone Custom Bows is my favorite.  It does cost more but for the quality and workmanship you get is still a bargain.  For the price you specified going used can find you some really nice bows.

I will check out the Maddog bows it is a little harder to find a LH bow in 35#. Bear Montana don't make a LH 35# bow any more. I have a Mountain Mesa bow in LH marked 35# always hard to shoot I checked the weight on my scales it was 42# more than I can handle at my age I will be selling that one. I will keep looking, I like the Northern Mist shot them for years. I don't see any of those for sale in 35#, I know $400.00 will not buy much these days . Thank for all the information.

I got a mad dog matching set built right before Christmas for my son and myself. I got the string follow instead of the prairie predator because I wanted more the classic hill style. I could not be more pleased. I have never shot other hill style bows so I don't have anything to compare to but all I saw were people talking about how they rattle your teeth, etc. Let me tell you that is far from the truth with this bow. It shoots so smooth and Mike the builder answers phone calls and emails quickly. I can't imagine better service or quality for the price.

Used LH long bows in 35# weight are very hard to find.
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

I have ordered another Bodnik bow LH 35# 66" long supposed to be here soon. I have a RH bow of the same and like it well other wise I would have ordered a Mad dog bow.

Thank for the help

You might want to check with Jim Martin at Mahantango Bows. I believe his bows are under $500 new.
