Arrow holder

What are your thoughts on arrow holders? I do must of my hunting from a tree stand and never had an issue but it has crossed my mind on windy days. I have an old on that is a thin peice of metal that went on the the riser of a compound.  It has a spring arm that comes off of it with a rubber pack man gripper that goes on the arrow.  When you draw back the gripper releases the arrow. I was thinking of putting it on my new tall tines recurve via velcro, one strip on the bow the other on the metal arm. I dont want to damage the bow any and i dont know if the velcro would be strong enough to hild on during the shot. Anyone have good or bad experinces with arrow holders?

Sounds like you're referring to a "Sta-jac" arrow holder.  They  were popular when they were available.  Get yourself some strong double-sided tape, clean both surfaces (Sta-jac metal plate and bow riser) and place it where you want it.  There shouldn't be any issues with adhesion and the arrow holder will do what it was designed for.  Tip: Place an arrow on the string and attach the arrow gripper to it where you'd want it, then push the metal plate against the riser.

I've been using them for years.  I attach my sta-jac plate to the riser with foam core double backed tape.  Works fine. Follow Knobby's advice for mounting.   

If you shoot 3 under, remember to hold onto the arrow nock until the arrow releases from the gripper or  the string might pull out of the nock as you draw.

I was just thinking of trying something like this when I saw the thread and couldn't remember the name either. I just looked at several others, does anyone else have experience with kwik loc or others available. I saw a couple on 3Rivers site. Thanks

The original sta-jacs haven't been produced in a while.  A couple of other companies produced knock offs.  Sometimes they come up on the big auction site.  The attached pix shows a coupled of the versions. The Kwick-lock works, though it is more difficult to mount on some bows because of the wide base.

Mainly use the KwickLock version.  I just cut the base to fit the bow I'm mounting it on.

Funny, many years ago, I threw away a Sta-Jac from a small box of mixed items in a box not knowing what it was. If I'd had the internet then, I'd of been able to identify it!
Think I'll try the Kwik Lok and see how goes it.

I already know it's a dumb question but how do you fix it to come off during draw?

I use the kwikloc and made a bracket that mounts to the AMO inserts on my riser. This makes it removable and I make the bracket to position it perfectly.

I put a Kwik Loc on mine but did have to trim is some to fit around the rest bushing.

Agree on the kwick lock I've used them along time and usually trim to fit the bow
But they work great on longbow or recurve. I've tried about everything including the rubber band/toothpick deal but I always go back to the simplicity, reliability and ease of use of the kwick lock [attachment=1]

Another vote for the kwikloc.  I have them on several of my bows, and also my wife uses them.

Welcome! The website says the Kwik Loc has rubber adapter for skinny shafts.
