The Vanilla Gorilla

I start to get nervous if I haven't downed a deer by the time blackpowder season starts.   But this season, the heat and lack of activity on my land kinda killed my motivation to hunt. Especially this past evening. It was 85 degrees with a howling south wind.  And from the Facebook posts from both hunters I know and the local deer processors,  nobody was seeing or killing much.  But the old saying "You can't kill em if you ain't there." hung in my head.  So I packed up my gear and headed out.

Luck and the Almighty was on my side tonite as this buck presented to me a nice 4-5 yard shot.  10 seconds later I heard him crash in a cedar thicket.  He even graced me with the convenience of dying 20 yards from the road.

Celebrated my first of the year with a root beer and a Fuente Opus X on the ride home.

Congratulations nice shot and buck there.
I used to have a "Great Plains Rio Bravo" just like yours but traded it years ago.
Mine was 59# and a bit too heavy for me so I sold it but can't remember to who.
It was a nice shooting bow . :clapper:

I like A&W myself.  IBC is good when I can find it.   I hate Dads Rootbeer tho.  To me it tastes like it has black pepper in it.

Very cool sir! Congrats and on the ground to boot. I too shot my buck in 80 degree weather and everyone around here said it's to hot to go. Lol. Guess we showed them the "you can't kill them from couch" theory is right.

I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.
