Assenheimer Hunter or Martin Savannah

I have a chance to get a 2006 Assenheimer Hunter t/d recurve or I could order a Martin Savannah new for the same money.

I have held a Savannah and like the feel and looks of it but the had no left hand models so I didn't shoot it. I have only saw pictures of the Assenheimer Hunter and while it looks nice and I have read good things about it. The grip is what I wonder about. I have short finger and thick hands. Also while I know its not speed that kills I still want a fast quiet bow, my short draw needs all the help it can get.

What would you do if you were me?

This is not even close! The Assenheimer is a much better bow, hands down. You won't be sorry.

The only right answer is the bow that fits you best. As far as fit and finish, the Assenheimer is hands down better. The Savannah shoots real well and is quite quick. Comes down to what You shoot best.........Mark

I had a Savannah and shot and then ordered a new Assenheimer. There is no contest the Assenheimer wins this one walking away.

Even though I dont own one, I have heard nothing but good things about savannah's.

Having said that, I own 2 Assenheimers.

It is not a real fair question. You are trying to decide between a factory made vs hand/custom made bow. Not to mention, longbow vs recurve.

Both fine bows, but only you can decide which is better for you.

The Assenheimer will be my new bow. I am currently shooting a early 70's Bear Super Grizzly. Its all I have shot until now so it will be what I will now have to compare the Assenheimer too.

Never shot a Martin but, there is always a but you know. I have two Assenheimers and LOVE them!!!!!!

I have 2 Assenheimers and really like both of them. Smooth and quiet.

Come to the Traditional & Primitive Archery Expo in Wheeling, WV March 30, 31 & April 1. Assenheimer will be there and Cabela's will have their Martin line. You can shoot them both.

Assenheimer's that I've shot and have been around are some of the quietest recurves to be found. I am shooting longbows now, but if I were to go back to a recurve, an Assenheimer would be at the top of the list! You can always buy and extra set of limbs for the Assenheimer too, which to me is a big plus! Try to shoot them both, as Brian said and good luck! Mike

2 totally different bows here. One is a TD recurve and the other a one piece longbow. Both are excellent shooters. I have owned a couple of both. For a TD recurve an Assenheimer is hard to beat. For a one piece longbow the Savannah is hard to beat. Both made by folks who have been making their respective bows a long time and know what they are doing. Dont think you would be disapointed with either one of them.
